The start is always the hardest part. People who know me barely think that I am totally intoverted. The people who know me personally or just know me mainly through mails think that I am extroverted.

I enjoy going to the museums and historic sights. I like hiking and long bicycle tours. In the winter I am going skiing in the alps.

I have no idea.

I like to read fiction with a historical plot and polit-thrillers
but sometimes I just read scientific stuff just for fun. I enjoy
books from Ken Follett, Bernard Cornwell and J.K. Rowling. But
actually I read everthing in which the plot has a fast pace, which
does not mean the book has to have less than 300 pages.

I think I have a shizophrenic taste of music. When I am listing to
music when I am studying /working or hanging out, I prefer the
genres folk (Adam Green, Bary Louis Polaris), alternative (Garbage,
Republica, Guano Apes), indie (Regina Spektor, Feist, Ingrid
Michaelson, Paloma Faith, Adele), contemporary classical (Hayley
Westenra, Josh Gorban, Celtic Women, Dario Marianelli) and classic
(Beethoven, Wagner, Haydn, Ravel).
But when I am with my friends clubbing I prefer House, R&B or
some groovy music which you can dance to.

I enjoy movies with a complicated plot and cheesy comedies.

I love food, I will try everything at least once if it does not
kill you. My favourite cousines are mediterranean and japanese, and
german desserts and cakes. The most excotic things I tried are
snail and caterpillar.

I would devide the topics of my thaughts into two groups.
The most time my thoughts are concerning mathematical problems. My research mates make the joke that I should think about small counter examples with around 1 Mio. Vertices.
The other thoughts are mainly about where do I want to travel to next, how to surprise my friends or what to cook.

It depends on the weather and time of year.
Either we are hanging out in bars or bier garten or go clubbing. If the weather is right, we are punting and grilling.

My nickname dates to A-level where nearly the whole school called me Freakbrain. It originates from (Pinky and) Brain and Freak (I corrected the mistakes of my teachers).
At the móment nearly everyone including my advisor calls me Dani.
