My self-summary
Currently I work as an instrument mechanic/electrician at a chemical plant. I started out years ago planning to be a middle school or high school band director. I've worked in retail management, managed a couple auto dealership parts departments, was a rural letter carrier for a while and did a stint in larger power generating facility. Since I wasn't putting my B.A to good use I went back to school for an Associates and that's how I ended up where I am now. Pretty cool place but was better before they downsized a few years back. I've always leaned toward science and technology but also have a lot of interest and respect for the arts.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, I'm sort of at a cross roads now. Two grown girls so there's little left to do on those fronts but I like to be able to still help out when the opportunity presents itself. Time to look for someone with common interests and viewpoints in life to share it with. It's always nicer to catch that shooting star with someone other than yourself. Particularly if they get as big a kick out of it as I do.
I’m really good at
I seem to be pretty good at fixing things; cars, houses, stuff at work. I also think I'm good at seeing things from different perspectives. Noticing details many others might ignore. Sometimes that can be helpful and even fun.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't remember anyone ever mentioning such a thing. You'd have to ask them I guess.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is a tough one. Movies; Amelie, Kenneth Branaugh's Much Ado About Nothing, the original Death at a Funeral(English version), Jason Born movies, 2001:A Space Odyssey(book too)Shows;Sweeney Todd, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, AFunny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Books; Sagan's Demon Haunted World, Cosmic Connection, I Claudius and Claudius the Emperor, Dawkins' Ancestor's Tale, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Anything Douglass Adams wrote. TV; PBS's Masterpiece Theater and Mystery, Nature, Nova and more. Good dramas and great comedy. Family Guy, NCIS etc. Radio; NPR a lot. Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk, Wait wait, Don't Tell Me. Cooking shows, current affairs. All Things Considered, Weekend Edition. This is a small sampling but you get the idea. Food; I was raised on pretty standard fair but have been working on expanding my horizons for a while. Have tried Indian and Chinese and liked them both so far. Music; Jazz, Classical, Funk, sometimes folk or gospel(and yeah I'm an atheist). A little pop or country goes a long way most of the time but there's a time and place for just about everything.
The six things I could never do without
Good friends, stimulating books, movies, music and a special love(r) to share and experience them all with. And maybe a little travel.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe and everything. You'll either know the punch line or not.
On a typical Friday night I am
I work a lot of Fridays but an evening at the local pub for a killer burger and a beer, maybe a game of pool or just talk. If at home a little couch time, preferably with good company and enjoy a good show or movie together. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the snack.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Nothing springs to mind that I'd like to turn public what was private. Get to know me just a little and you'll find I'm pretty much an open book.
