My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi! I'm Ian. I'm a geeky, silly person encased in the body of a serious, quiet person. (I think I might actually be all four of those things at once, but it seems easier to make them mutually exclusive, doesn't it?)

I like Judy Garland and gin, language and drag.

I'm not a very good singer, but I will go to karaoke with you. Yes, right now.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Many things. I write and edit fiction. I work in a restaurant. I'm also a musician (violin) and semi-professional watcher of television (see below).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Binge watching TV series.

Grammar. (I'll stop before you turn away in disgust).

Downing gin and tonics.

"I am stiff, distant and weird"--Kristen Wiig as Lana del Rey.

Books
I love to read. I think Cormac McCarthy is brilliant, and adore Alison Bechdel, Harper Lee and T.H. White. I'm all about coming-of-age stories, so I'll pick up pretty much any YA title. I'm fond of Philip Pullman, Lev Grossman, Diana Wynne Jones, Garth Nix, Clive Barker, and Kelly Link.

Movies
There are many favorites (especially old and foreign films). Recently, some standouts have been The Imitation Game, Birdman, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Theory of Everything, and Into the Woods.

Television
Everything. Selections of what I currently watch: Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, Archer, Parks and Rec, Elementary, Orange is the New Black, Rectify, Orphan Black, and American Horror Story. If you watch Miranda, you should probably message me. I also have an abiding love of all things science fiction. Some favorites are Star Trek, Farscape, Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica.

Musics
I'm a big fan of Florence+the Machine, Judy Garland, LP, Ella Fitzgerald, Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, Laura Mvula, Loreena McKennitt, Coeur de Pirate, and Vienna Teng. I'm also a violinist/fiddler, so I'm really into Celtic and Cape Breton music. As far as classical composers go, I enjoy a lot of Bach and Ravel.

Current song obsession: "Trini Dem Girls" by Nicki Minaj, especially when paired with this amazing choreography: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJaTxaulAMo

Food
Yes.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Language, tidepools, androgyny, lost cities.

Stories. Those should take up at least two of my six.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
"I think I'm just going to go home tonight and find as many versions of Moon River as I can on the internet"--Mitchell, The Outs
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I actually, honest-to-god enjoy playing beer pong.

I know. There's no excuse.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You need a drunk-singing buddy.

One of your life goals is to become Tilda Swinton.

You are Tilda Swinton.

Your ideal Saturday night involves wine and an Angels in America marathon because you, like me, are one tortoiseshell away from catladydom.

You think we'd hit it off, and you'd like to get coffee or grab a drink sometime.
