My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
As we travel through life sometimes the journey takes us on unexpected twists and turns. We sometimes ultimately end up someplace for which we didn't exactly plan but it becomes our new destination. At that point we sort of reach an impasse, do we turn around or try and see if there is another way to get back to the original plan. There is also the radical idea that comes up in conversation that maybe this is exactly where we’re supposed to be and exactly where we were supposed to go and end up.

I believe that life itself is somewhat like that in that we sometimes have all these grandiose plans which end up going awry. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing as it continues our personal development and growth.
A few years back I foresaw myself on a slightly different road, with a slightly different destination. I had different dreams, different ideals, values and core concepts of what matters in life.

Then life happened and it all began to evolve. What was one day doldrums and routine became a window of self-reflection and started me on a path of introspection.

After much seeking, thinking, reflecting and soul searching, I realize that at this moment I have arrived exactly where I am supposed to be and that I have grown so much as a person since I started on my journey.

Anyway, I could go on about the adventures of being the wrong man in the right place making all the difference but I suppose you want to know a bit about me. I am 31, a part time professor, researcher and wrapping up my doctoral dissertation. I am hoping to consult, write and follow my passion which is research. I love history, adore science and find our universal shared history, cultures and values to be mind blowing. When you step back and see how big things really and how interconnected we all are.

Beyond the basics of being 31, I have brown hair, brown eyes, I don’t smoke, I drink socially, can move gracefully amongst different social circles and like to consider myself a good guy.

I’m here because I know this has worked for people that people do come together and connect on OKC. It’s really one of those moments of “you never know – lightning may strike”.
If you have read this far say hi! :)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am following the middle way as I work to better myself as a person, professional, mentor and friend. I continue to work on my research and wrapping up my dissertation. I should officially be conferred my Doctor of Philosophy title early next year. In my down time I read quite a bit, watch boring educational television and hang out with my dog Attila (my four pound buddy).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am very good at finding the good in people and helping to foster personal development. I generally see things through a more optimistic lens. I read extensively in the areas of political theory, business, medicine and a whole bunch of other areas. I am a technologist and also keep current with the field as I teach part time as a professor. I value and enjoy making a difference in people’s lives so much. We all have to give back and if we can give back while helping improve someone’s situation, than all the better.

Books: There are dozens, I read a lot of non-fiction and journals.

Movies: It all depends on my mood and who I am with but I am open to almost anything.

Shows: I need someone to go with me!

Music: I'm experimenting with dubstep at the moment, we'll see how that goes.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The internet, food, my cell phone, diet Coke, my dog, oxygen.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
People, the world around me, the bigger picture, how I can make a difference or give back, or looking forward to what's next.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
This can vary from dinner and drinks to a night in watching a movie.
