My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey there, I'm Ben. I'm an up and coming screenwriter, poet, and children's book author with a love of film and literature, philosophy, nature (and animals), mysticism, and history. Culture fascinates me. I've interned and/or worked on a farm, in a biophysics lab, in a senator's office, at a treatment center for people with cognitive disabilities, at a yoga center, at the museum of natural history, and at the Esalen Institute.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spent the last year studying in Jerusalem, and am now back in New Jersey to work on several writing projects and begin pre-production on a sci-fi/fantasy short film that I wrote and will soon be assistant-directing (once we get the rest of our funding!). Before Pardes I was working and living at a number of spiritual retreat centers across America, doing everything from office work to grounds keeping. I'm very interested in Big Questions.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Still figuring that out...but I will say I'm becoming a pretty good sculptor!
The first things people usually notice about me

I was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder Crohn's disease when I was 9 years old. Consequently, I was sick - and in and out of hospitals - a lot during my adolescence. After a major surgery at 18* (where they removed a foot of my small intestine), and learning that I was/am allergic/sensitive to gluten (sigh...), I have been symptom free for 11 years and counting!

*yep, I've got a cool scar.
