I was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder Crohn's disease when I was 9 years old. Consequently, I was sick - and in and out of hospitals - a lot during my adolescence. After a major surgery at 18* (where they removed a foot of my small intestine), and learning that I was/am allergic/sensitive to gluten (sigh...), I have been symptom free for 11 years and counting!
