Is it really possible to describe yourself?
I doubt it, not in an objective sense anyway.
Free-spirit, free-thinker, adventurer, intellectual; relative things, of course, but these themes consistently express themselves in my life. Curiosity...can't be installed, if you have it you know it...and what I mean.

When I had the chance to do anything I wanted (within reason) after parting ways with my girlfriend two years ago, I decided to go for a ride. I rode my bicycle from the Oregon coast back to KC.

I've got a robust, free-ranging sense of humor.

Mostly though, I still believe in magic--like love at first sight and that wonderful life-changing events can happen at any instant. I strive to stay on the sunny side of life and think the best of people.

Doing my best to be a good father and friend. Staying in good enough shape to do anything physical. Finding new and exciting things to study--and do.

Finding great people to hang out with and enjoying their company.

Serendipitous adventure.

Listening-to really listen, without thinking about what you have to say, etc., is a skill, a grace.

Putting people at ease in difficult situations.

Scrabble, trivia games; esoterica.

Knowing when to give 100%, and knowing when to quit.

My eyes, but also the different vibe. Calm but intense, up for just about anything.

Oh yeah, I'm tall-did you know: Only 3.9%
of men in the USA are 6'2" or taller?

Omnivorous consumer of music-
I find it hard to pick favorites, rather, enjoy exploring new genres-recently discovered Jimmy Rogers-"The Singing Brakeman", that led to a general survey of "roots" music, kind of the grandaddy of blues, country, and rock.
And, of course, the symphony is the music of the angels.

Can't eat a meal by myself without something to read, or a crossword-
In the past my favorite books were non-fiction, more into literature and narratives recently. Just read a couple of Vonnegut novels, his crotchety point of view always reminds me of Mark Twain, a definite favorite.
As narratives go, "Kabloona", by Gontran de Poncins, is, by far, the finest I've ever read. An amateur anthropologist, ethnologist and all-around curious guy goes for a ride with the Inuit back in the day. His internal conversation is a monumental read.

Food, movies? Yes, and frequently, but favorites...hard to say. The last really superb movie I watched was "Five Easy Pieces". Update: "Donnie Darko"-like a möbius band...
The last really great meal I had was at Room 39.

T.V.-not much.

Probably not in a bar, I don't drink and find little interest in them.

Maybe on 39th St. at Prospero's book store enjoying the poets, thinkers, ramblers, jokers.

Maybe even barefoot in the cool sand of the Kaw. The coyotes' call, everywhere and nowhere, the off-white sound of moving water, crickets, smokey fire; familiar comfort, an old friend.

I'm very lucky.

You REALLY love to laugh and enjoy challenging conversation. You really want okcupid to be a means to an end, not a lifestyle.

(I don't like listing technical specifications) You're a smart woman who feels worthy of respect and adoration, who is, uh, at least kind of pretty if not downright gorgeous. As to body type: woman-shaped; And, I should be able to carry you out of a burning building-but you probably wouldn't be able to carry me out of one.

You prefer a brief e-mail correspondence, and would like to meet in person relatively soon afterwards. I believe in chemistry being apparent very quickly, love at first sight even.
