My self-summary

My Self Summary 2: The Summarizing-ing.

I’m a Virginia transplant who’s beginning to regret having moved to the valley. I was warned about the summers here but moved up from Orange County anyways. Woe, woe is me! Soon I shall be nothing more than a giant size stick of beef jerky. Some poor fellow will come across my body, think me a tasty delicious snack and inadvertently commit cannibalism, the eventual realization of which will send him to an early grave.

Where was I? Oh, right, transplants. I moved out two years ago after getting laid off and ran into a couple of old friends, one of which I’m now rooming with. He’s actually got a profile on here too, which I’ll eventually link to once I hunt it down.

As my terribly unoriginal user name suggests, I consider myself to be both funny and a cook. Please do not interpret the name to mean that I am only funny when cooking for that is certainly not the case. I am also funny when punching kittens. Outside of that though--not so much.

Fortunately I have any number of hobbies to keep me occupied when my supply of kittens runs low. I’m a geek/nerd, and I use those words in their original connotation, before it became cool to be either, which lead to a frenzy of popular kids latching onto the words because they play Xbox (I like how Microsoft Word suggested I capitalize that) or like lolcatz. This isn’t to say there is anything wrong with either (I love me some lolcatz), I’m just throwing out some broad, unfounded social commentary in the hopes that it will polarize a few people into emailing me. :-D

I played tabletop RPGs back in college, and would still play today if I had the support group for it. I build my own computers and spend more time on them than I do outside, which is actually kind of sad considering the beautiful weather out here. I heart the Buffalo Bills. I own lots of Science Fiction and fantasy books and a couple of my programming/web design books from back in the day.

I discovered kickball last year and am anxiously waiting to get into the next WAKA season in Studio City. I went through a massive round of creating YouTube videos (coincidently around the time I started kickball) and still read comics. I’m a huge fan of board games, especially those of the strategy-heavy European variety.

I have just started my fourth paragraph starting with ‘I.’ I’m not into bars; I don’t drink that often and would prefer to hit up a coffee shop and play scrabble. Not that I’ve done that before, but having just thought about it, it sounds like a fun first date. Hmm…

What I'm doing with my life

I'm still screwing around trying to figure out where to live, what to do and how to live my life. I'll be here at least another two years and then will decide whether to move back home, stay here or move somewhere else.

I'm working at a television studio right now, which is a change of pace from the last five years of accounting (which is odd seeing as I majored in Theatre). It's fun, but I think I want to end up at an Arts organization when all is said and done.

I want to travel a lot more too--that's part of the reason I moved to the other side of the country. I've been to Ireland, Italy and Egypt, but haven't traveled anywhere overseas since 2004. Hopefully next year will change that.

Oh, and I just got back into tennis! Carido tennis classes kick ass!

I'm really good at

Making people laugh, cooking, being terribly upbeat most of the time and being terribly sarcastic intermittently; coming up with YouTube videos that I never get around to starting/finishing, rewriting lyrics to songs and the aforementioned punching kittens.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

I'm tall, I'm funny and I'm loud.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Most recently finished: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde and The Thousand Orcs by R. A. Salvatore. Good stuff all around. I think I'll hit up some more of Fforde's work next.

Favorite books: Ender's Game, the old Dragonlance books, Guardians of the Flame: The Warriors, anything by Neil Gaiman, Elfquest (graphic novels), The Time Traveler's Wife, Snow Crash, the Harry Potter series, Fables (comic), Y: The Last Man (comic) and a bunch of other Marvel and Vertigo comic titles.

Last movie watched: The Dark Knight. Fan-fucking-tastic!

Favorite movies: Startdust, Fifth Element, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spirited Away, Good Will Hunting and too many more to count.

Last song listened to: "Still Alive" by Jonathan Coulton.

Favorite music: John Mayer, All American Rejects, Sting, Nickel Creek, Songs for a New World (soundtrack), Good Will Hunting (soundtrack), Riverdance (soundtrack), Fiona Apple, Carbon Leaf, Counting Crows, Elliot Smith, Madeline, Nick Bognar, Something Corporate, The Streets, Tenacious D, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Last prepared: Apricot and Cranberry stuffed pork chops.

Favorite Foods: homemade chili, fresh bread, chicken bacon corn chowder, home made pizza, Panda Express Orange Chicken, ham and swiss sandwiches, Outbeak Steakhouse cheese fries.

The six things I could never do without

A humidifier (at least out here in LA), food recipes online, a comfy bed, the chance to travel overseas at least once every two years, Panda Express Orange Chicken and cheap airfare.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

'What If' scenarios that cover pretty much everything that could happen. My mind is constantly coming up with new storylines to distract itself with.

On a typical Friday night I am

At home hanging out with friends. Hmm...I guess I AM more introverted, aren't I? Well, let's change that, shall we?!

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I am addicted to CuteOverload.com. Seriously, go see my journal entry with the bunny. Also, http://icanhascheezburger.com.

You should message me if

you think my messages will be as funny as my posts (assuming you think my posts are funny); you want someone to play tennis with you; you don't want to go see [insert name here] play/museum/other by yourself. If you find me interesting.
