My self-summary
Born on the planet Krypton, my parents, sensing the planet was in peril, placed me in an experimental rocket aimed for Earth. After traveling unfathomable distances my rocket crashed and was found by a kind, childless couple from Gotham City who raised as their own son. It was a good life until a mugger crept from the shadows one night and killed them both. A mugger I had met before and failed to stop! Armed with a brilliant mind and the drive to prove that with great power came a great responsibility I took my guilt over their deaths and channeled it into the creation and application of Gamma energy. On the eve of testing it's military application in the form of a G-Bomb I noticed, almost too late, that a boy had wandered onto the test site. I leaped into action and managed to push him out of the way just in time but not before I absorbed the brunt of the Gamma explosion as the bomb went off. My body was a wreck, torn to pieces by the detonation. Luckily the government was able to rebuild me, they had the technology. I was better, faster, stronger and put to work on the Detroit Police force. Half man, half machine, all cop.
What I’m doing with my life
Ah, OKCupid! The place I come when I'm tired of feeling good about myself!

My name is Ryan. I'm 6'1", 200lbs. My interests are comic books, fashion, learning, cardio, and SCIENCE!. Apparently I'm an ENFJ if that's the sort of thing that gets you excited.

I'm a pretty big nerd on the inside while trying my best not to look like a nerd on the outside.

Why am I here? As an elementary school science teacher, my schedule doesn't allow for the opportunity to meet people who I'm not working with. Human beings crave companionship and people to talk to and right now the people I talk to the most are 10. I want to have a conversation about something other than Beyblade! I don't even know what a Beyblade IS!

The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, or motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize that they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more about the world today than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.

My heartbeat is Morse code for 'inappropriate' and my brain is a junior varsity cheerleader for the sports team Learning operating out of the great state of Always. They play Jai alai.
I’m really good at
Being 30, looking 20 and acting somewhere in between.
I would say 'taking life one day at a time' but I won't because that's how time works!
The first things people usually notice about me
How unreasonably handsome I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Authors are Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, Michael Crichton, John Schwartzwelder, and anything by the team from QI. But these days I'm all up in Non-Fiction's grill, readin' about space an' shit.

Favorite movies are The 5th Element, Transformers: The Movie (1985), Happiness, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Brick, Attack the Gas Station, Googlewhacked, Sleepaway Camp (please tell me if you haven't seen this, we'll arrange a screening), The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park, Black Dynamite, Rubber, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Dawn of the Dead, The Shawshank Redemption, and Dagon. Honestly, Almost every movie I watch I can enjoy on some level. Any movie, even the truly awful ones, can be watched and enjoyed in the right context.
"So long as a film is made without pretension, it's a good movie." Roddy McDowell said that, and he once played a talking ape, so I think he knows a thing or two about movies.

Favorite music is literally everything. I'm terrible when it comes to music, I enjoy all of it. Every single thing. So much so that I've never had the ability to objectively judge if a song or band or performer is great or terrible. Good news: I like your favorite band! Bad news: I like your most hated band! Except for Nickleback, obviously, which I only recently learned is an actual band and not just a word that means "This song is terrible."

Favorite food is a little interesting, I grew up on a strict fast-food diet. My parents were well meaning but busy/lazy. It wasn't until adulthood that I really came to understand that a salad was actually supposed to be food and not a promissory note that food would come soon. I'm in the process of trying a lot of new things and (typically) won't refuse to at least taste something if offered. That said, seafood turns my stomach.

I should also point out that I'm a huge TV junkie. I didn't want to be but then TV just got so good. Futurama, Doctor Who, Community, the IT Crowd, American Dad, Corner Gas, Young Justice, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Boston Legal, Venture Bros., Archer, Gravity Falls, even The Simpsons is starting to pull out of its decade long slump. And a big big shout out to MST3K.
The six things I could never do without
Gravity, magnetism, strong radiation, weak radiation, incomplete lists,
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Really stupid stuff. Why doesn't Harry just shoot Voldemort? Octopuses and how scary and smart they are. I enjoy weighing my natural skepticism against my very strong desire that the Loch Ness Monster and the Yeti are real and that one day I could find a genie.
On a typical Friday night I am
Engaging in one of my two favorite activities which are, in no particular order, bettering myself and sabotaging myself.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I recently dropped 60 pounds on the "eat less, exercise more" diet.
Problem: my clothes no longer fit.
Solution: Taco Bell has a competitively priced box of twelve tacos.
