My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am looking to meet interesting people who are open to all that life has to offer. I am an optimistic realist, have a positive outlook, and believe that we get one shot at life. So I am committed to living the best life I can, squeezing everything out of it. But it is better having someone special sharing the journey!

I love my family, friends, and travel. Those are the top three. My house and work round out the top five, I guess. :-)

I am definitely looking for someone who is able to commit. I know it is hard in a place like DC—with so many interesting, engaging, talented people—to stop looking for the next guy. But if you are always thinking about trading in for a new model, how can you focus on making what you have the best it can be? Relationships are hard, and both guys need to be in the right place. I want someone who is in the same ballpark I am.

I also have come to put a huge premium on guys with an optimistic, positive outlook. It seems like—and this might totally be induced by me—a lot of guys I go out with are either jaded or (worse) bitter. If you aren't going to come to a date bringing enthusiasm and interest, then why even bother?!

I also find there is enough stress and drama in my work life, so I am attracted to guys who tend to be calm. Seeking that balance between passion and grounded.

Thanks for reading!

I am a partner in an exhibit design firm we have had for 14 years. I am not a designer, but I plan exhibits, research and write the labels, and so on. I am also the marketing, HR, and general business guy.

I think it is usually my eyes, smile, or acerbic wit. Since I have grown a beard, that seems to get a lot of comments.

I have embraced the Kindle! Loved Game of Thrones, which ushered me into fantasy a little bit. After finishing Name of the Wind—one of my godsons recommended it—I am now halfway through Wheel of Time (Book 6/12). Having said that, East of Eden is my all-time favorite book.

I probably watch as much sports as anything else. Big Boston and DC fan. SB 49=PATS! PATS! PATS! PATS! I do like the Game of Thrones on TV almost as much as I like the books. Masterpiece Mystery on PBS (Inspector Lewis ... hunky Hathaway). Downton Abbey is fantastic. OITNB; Looking; Game of Thrones of course!

Music... very varied interests. The current play list has Johnny Cash, Adam Levine, Hozier, songs from the Queen's Jubilee, OneRepublic, and Kentucky Thunder.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
These are NOT in rank order, LOL:

1. Coffee
2. The Newspaper
3. Books
4. Warmth
5. Family
6. Love
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life ... stuff at work, stuff at home, my next travels!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Tired! But I usually end up doing something, like going to dinner with friends. Saturday I am more likely to go out for a drink. I love country dancing and am very excited about Town having two-stepping every other Saturday.
