My self-summary
Intelligent, geeky male seeks similar female for fun and frolicking in the London area.

I would generally prefer to get to know someone during a nice conversation over coffee, but I have many awesome words you can read in the meantime, as well as over 3000 match answers.

This article on the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25410883 says men often lie about their height on dating profiles. I really am in fact 6' 3".
What I’m doing with my life
I recently moved from Sheffield to London and am liking life in the big city. I spent three years here as a student so I was pretty sure I wouldn't hate it.

I drifted out of ballroom dancing after nine years, but I'm open to starting again and have taken up Salsa dancing in the meantime.

I have a good job as a computer programmer as well as long time girlfriend and I am happy with both. I'm now trying to expand my horizons (being 6'3 my horizons are technically bigger than most) and see what else life has to offer.
I’m really good at
- Avoiding awkward silences by having awkward conversations.
- Computers.
- Using a pair of coins as impromptu tweezers.
- Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (or Puyo Puyo)
- Knowing more than you (or being genuinely enthusiastic and interested if I don't).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm six foot three and have long hair.

Although someone once told me the first thing they thought when they met me was "I wonder if he'll notice I'm stealing his drink?".
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Many people on here say this section is not very important. In the grand scheme of things I agree, but having some superficial things in common makes those early conversations much easier :)

Short version:

Sci-fi good, in all forms. Action, horror and comedy good for movies. Not really into music. I like pizza and chocolate.

Long version:

I'm very flexible with movies. A bit less so with TV. You liking some of the following would be good:

Douglas Adams • Song of Ice and Fire • Greg Egan • Mars Trilogy • Philip K. Dick • Brian Lumley • Terry Pratchett

Aliens • Dirty Dancing • Arnold Schwarzeneger • Shawshank Redemption • Superstar! • Bridget Jones's Diary • Clancy Brown • Home Alone • Robocop • Jim Carey • Rocky Horror Picture Show • Cube • Helena Bonham-Carter • Invictus • Saw • Harry Potter • Lost Boys

Game of Thrones • Blackadder • Stargate • Simpsons • Young Doctor's Notebook • Have I Got News For You • Family Guy • Star Trek • QI • BSG • Fawlty Towers

t.A.T.u • System of a Down • Weird Al Yankovic • Jonathan Coulton • ABBA • Eminem • Rammstein

Food is not the way to my heart.
The six things I could never do without
This section is now: "Some things I like that might tell you something about me"

- Science, mathematics and a general knowledge and wonder about how the world works
- The internet (and as a result my phone). The best way to get to that knowledge (and without my phone I would be physically lost frequently).
- Games. As well as video games, I'm big fan of "serious" board games. I tolerate Monopoly.
- People. Despite being generally an introvert, most of the things I like are better with other people
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether to message someone who seems like someone I wouldn't like, but OkCupid insists I have a 90% match with.
On a typical Friday night I am
This section is now: "I like to spend my evening"

I support staying in, and when out I support sitting down. Why I love partner dancing so much is still a mystery.

Staying in activity of choice would be watching movies and/or playing games. I dislike very few movies and nearly every game is fun multiplayer. Make it a house party and life might be perfect (four player drunken Mario on a Wii should be on your bucket list).

Going out at night, I'd prefer a quiet pub to a club. But I secretly like clubs too, in small doses. Persuading me may be hard but the results can be worth it - I once helped lead an impromptu chorus line with another straight guy at a gay club night.

Or we could go Salsa dancing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I wore fake tan when I danced competitively.

I lied about wanting to meet for coffee. I don't like coffee and will probably have tea or hot chocolate.

I have experienced more HHGTTG than you.

In the section above I originally wrote "I prefer a quiet pug"
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–36
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
Some, none or fewer of the following are true:

- You are intelligent, geeky and love learning new things (especially from someone else enthusiastic). Bonus points if you know more Maths than I do.
- You are vaguely liberal minded and at least not racist, sexist or homophobic.
- You are good at (or want to try) any form of partner dancing. I'm down to one day a week doing Salsa right now and that's not enough :P
- You like video games and prefer local multiplayer (I like almost any type of game multiplayer). Bonus points for couch coop.
- You can write in full sentences, but still like smilies :P
- You like to cuddle on a sofa watching movies or TV marathons.
- You are happy with the fact that I'm in an open relationship.
- You are kinky and would like to explore that with someone who has an under-developed interest.
