My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Mad scientist/super villain with volcano lair on Spider-Skull Island and solid gold rocket boat seeks similar.

But seriously, I don't have a volcano lair anymore.

Back in San Marcos after a brief stint back to my hometown, San Antonio. Now, I'm pursuing a Masters degree in History.

Nerdy movies/music/video games/books guy with a dark and dry sense of humor (apparently, greatly influenced by Daria, among others) looking for someone to hang out with and possibly more, depending on how things go.

Unabashed bleeding heart liberal.

Irreligious, despite being interested in religion as an academic subject. I'm accepting of all religions, except for a handful I consider to do more harm than good. In short, yeah, I'm cool with whatever you worship, as long as it excludes L. Ron Hubbard.

Diverse tastes in many things, if not everything.

Cynic tempered with strong idealism. Mostly realistic. Overall, I try to be a nice person, despite the roughness around the edges. I consider compassion and kindness essential traits.

I'm a man of many contradictions. Some see that as a flaw, I see it as pragmatic. Or being the product of a family that's a mixture of upper-class English and down to earth South Texan.

My penchant for using 60s and 70s slang is compensation for cool. Dig?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
About to start my first semester as a graduate student. There isn't much else, honestly.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Information recall.
Ideas.

Those are my main skills.

I can write well. Not great, but well.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Glasses. I mean, they're there. On my face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Music: Queen, Pink Floyd, Aloe Blacc, Cee-lo, Muse, Marvin Gaye, Alice Cooper, Jimi Hendrix, Opeth, Ghost (BC), Phil Ochs, Cynic, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metalachi, The Who, Ennio Morricone... I could continue for days.

There's a lot. Like, lots. Putting my iTunes to shuffle will run the gauntlet from cool jazz to heavy metal to some avant guard bullshit. But, overall, I love prog-rock and hard rock.

Movies: Amadeus, Gandhi, The Killing Fields, Princess Mononoke, Oldboy, Lady Vengeance, Thirst, Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Dynamite, Phantom of the Opera, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Akira, In the Loop, Universal Monster Movies, B-Movies, Hammer Horror movies, Alien/s, James Bond movies (don't judge, I'm a half-British guy named James. Aside from the possible STDs, what would be cooler than James Bond), Brazil, Star Wars, Star Trek, all things Monty Python, etc..

Musicals: Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, Cole Porter standards. Man of La Mancha.

Books: Current favorites: The Brothers, American Gods, and various non-fiction books relating to my classes.

TV: Doctor Who, Venture Bros., Gundam (for some reason), Attack on Titan, documentaries.

I don't have cable anymore. Anything I want to watch, I can find a stream of it.

Food: Many, many things.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Pets.
-Good stories.
-Dr. Pepper.
-Something to do.
-Some sort of lint roller, because of the pets.
-Music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Tattoo ideas, thoughtful and not so thoughtful questions, travel, time travel, if there is some sort of way to become either a mutant from X-Men or a Time Lord. Or both. Both would be cool.

Now to think of a name...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At home watching Netflix, a DVD, playing a game, reading something - book, article, internet.

Sometimes out and about with friends or watching terribly made hilarious movies.

Recently, a cabal of my friends gather and we play games with people's lives.

And by "games" I mean Settlers of Catan, and by "people's lives" I mean the imaginary people inhabiting my settlements or cities.

Behold my works, ye mighty, and despair.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a funny story about a migraine, nausea, and the women's restroom at Legoland.

Nothing naughty, or anything. Just stupid.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you're into lively discussion about anything from the arts to international relations to politics to philosophy. Anything is up for conversation.

If you can pick up on my humor. I can be very deadpan and dry and sometimes people don't pick up on it.

But, overall, if you feel inclined to message me, do so. But, please, do more than just say "hi." I have no idea how to respond to that other then "hey," and then the conversation sort of stalls.
