My Notes edit

My self-summary

I eat crackers in bed. (and cookies, and granola, pretty much anything with crumbs.) I hate money. A lot. I'd rather be in a yert in the woods, with some chickens and a goat. I am happiest when I can't see any light pollution, hear any cars, feel any pavement, smell any smog or taste any chlorine in the water. Sometimes I have to use my knees for extra leverage to cut my nails. They're really strong. I'm secretly extremely lazy. I grew up on a small beef farm in the middle of nowhere and loved it. I have a major weakness vintage ephemera. I always have spider bites from accidentally running through webs at night. I'm constantly evolving. Bad spelling really annoys me. I don't like materialism. I suck at meeting people.

What I'm doing with my life

I'm going to art school, working part time at a PR/arts firm, and squirreling away money for my travels. Trekking around Patagonia, planning a trip to Costa Rica, hiking, camping etc. I hope to someday live on my own land, produce most of my own food, barter for things I can't make with things I can, and run away to Greece or Guatemala or Ghana of Grenada periodically. Maybe it's a utopian fantasy, but I like it!

I'm really good at

Knitting scarves really slowly, reading books really fast, snowboarding kinda badly and laughing when I crash. Drinking coffee and people watching, liking rain, not buying stuff and.... wait, are these supposed to be actual skills? Oh, um, I guess I can draw pretty well, and paint and print and things like that. I'm awesome at walking, especially in the woods. I'm good at problem solving and debating and sounding smart even when I don't feel it. And remembering really useless facts from years ago. I'm ok at rock climbing.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My quietness, shortness and my smile. I have nice teeth. Thanks, braces! I seem standoffish to strangers, I'm often lost in my own head.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I could write 5 novels about this.
Oh man, books.. where to start. I just read On the Road, which changed my life. Sorry if you think that's cliche. I really love books by the artist Nick Bantock. I love Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Brick Lane, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Bell Jar, Zorro, The Good Earth, Catcher in the Rye. I love guilty pleasures like the Drizzt books by R.A. Salvatore. I love Lord of the Rings and Dune.

I like indie, artsy films and movies with beautiful cinematography. My favorites are I'm Not There, Into The Wild, Lengends of the Fall and Dangerous Beauty. And retro classics like Hook and The Goonies. I also love Fight Club, 300 and James Bond.

I listen to folksy/indie/world/classic rock music. Right now I'm loving Cake, Beck, Fleet Foxes, Bob Dylan, Cave Singers, and KBCS radio. I also love Jimi Hendrix, Crosby Stills & Nash, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Anoushka Shankar.... and on and on.

I love to eat! I like all kinds of food from all over the world. Sushi, Thai and Pho are my favorites. I always eat Italian food on my birthday. I have an insatiable sweet tooth and a hopeless addiction to carbs. I like steak. I'll eat anything at least once

The six things I could never do without

Thinking, knowing, making, discovering, travelling and eating really tasty food. If we count objects, I'd have to say chapstick, hiking shoes, my best friend, books, a raincoat and fire.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The state of the world today, what will my life be like in 5 years, that guy looks interesting, I want some noodles, that olympic runner from St. Kitts could probably run across his whole country in 23.7 seconds, what I should read next, ancient egypt, forestry, farming, celtic mythology, how to escape consumerism and the media, how to not let money run my life, utopian societies, anthropology, my next adventure and how to make friends.

On a typical Friday night I am

Goin with the flow.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

Bananas make my mouth tingle. And suspenders can be sexy.
