I enjoy things ranging from weeks of hiking to a few hours of video games, and most anything
in between. I party, I study, I take time to think. I care for my
friends and wish for the best, and realize that sometimes it's
hard.
I love learning, trying new things, and going new places. I very
much enjoy the outdoors, and wish I had more time to spend there. I
claim photography as a small hobby, yet never have much time for
it. Music fascinates me as well, though it's been a long time since
I've pursued it.

My self-summary
What I'm doing with my life
Just moved to California to start an amazing job after earning my
undergraduate degree last spring. So I'm adjusting to life on my
own, looking to meet people, and trying to get settled in my new
apartment.
I'm really good at
… writing, taking pictures (with time), and making good friends. I
used to be good at music, but it has been a long time. I'm good at
being honest, even when it's difficult.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
I believe (hope?) people notice my honesty and general strength of
character. But past what I believe, I've no clue. Thoughts?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: The Lord of the Rings, and
fantasy or science fiction in general. Lately, books like Mountains
Beyond Mountains have caught my fancy. Of course, other
(instant) classics like Harry Potter or Death of a Salesman.
There are many; just ask.
Movies: Like above, The Lord of the Rings. Also, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Some others I like a lot are National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Rock, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Then there are Disney movies like The Lion King and Aladdin, or Pixar movies like Finding Nemo or Ratatoille. Recently, I saw The Departed, which was good, and The Boondock Saints is likewise amazing.
Music: Mostly, anything that is considered "classic rock." More generally, anything outside "rap" and "country." One of my favorite artists is Jimmy Buffett. More, but less permanent, artists include Hootie and the Blowfish, Collective Soul, Coldplay, Simon and Garfunkel, and a bunch of others I'm forgetting right now. Try me, I'll probably like it. Or not, but my mind's open; more than it used to be, at least.
Food: I used to be very picky, but California has expanded my horizons. I like most things now, including Sushi, but I may still have limits. Anything from Mexican to Italian to British to German to Asian sounds fairly intriguing. College deprived me of vegetables.

next. Sometimes, what I'm going to do with my weekends. And far too
often, how I'm going to solve some problem at work.

On a typical Friday night I am
Eating dinner with my friends, hanging out doing something absurd,
or even going to a themed party on occasion. Enjoying a few drinks,
perhaps. When necessary (or when every alternative falls apart),
I'm in doing work. Depending on everyone else's plans, I also find
myself alone at my desk on rare occasions.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
I've missed opportunities in the past, particularly with dating,
because I felt what was obvious may have been "too good to be
true." It's been almost four years since I've dated anyone.
