My self-summary Propose an edit

Please note: My three adjectives were derived from a random word generator, but since I believe that randomness contains patterns and a strange ability to tie into the world around us, I decided to keep my first 3 selections, regardless of what they were. Actually, not too bad. This is my third time filling out all this preliminary OKCupid information, and each time I find myself analyzing and expressing myself in very interesting ways. Although I doubt I can match the wonderful self description that my prior phoenix-esque incarnation had posted, I will certainly endeavor to try... My exposition begins, thusly... I have a firm belief in the power of Life, Love, and Positive Energy. I believe in Deity, and that chances are your Deity and My Deity are the same ones, just putting on different Masques at the Masquerade we call life. I have a suspicion that 80% of all women with online profiles feel compelled to list The Princess Bride, Amelie, or Moulin Rouge in their list of favorite movies. I mean, they are good... but it's just one of the things I have noticed. I wish I would choose to spend more time sitting on the beach at dusk or dawn, and I wish I lived closer to a beach so that gas prices wouldn't feel like they were grinding me down. (Having said that, I paid 3.55$ today.) I believe that sin involves the hurting of others, emotionally, physically, spiritually, or intellectually. Anything that two or more consenting adults do behind closed doors is not sin. Although it is too easy to get lost in a good book, it seems difficult lately to get lost in a good bookstore. There is nothing that the purr of a cat, the cuddle of a dog, or the smile of a child cannot make seem inconsequential, at least for a moment. Happiness is a choice. Not being happy is also a choice. Given both options, I choose to be happy. You cannot control the world around you, but you can control how you choose to interpret it. You cannot choose how others view you, but you can choose how you let it affect you. The Pun is the mathematically perfect form of humor. Everyone knows that the shortest distance between any two puns is a straight-line. I don't understand why more people don't celebrate National Talk Like A Pirate Day. (september 19th) I spent nearly 6 months supporting myself by making candles... I am always amused with people whose profiles indicate they don't like talking about themselves, or defining themselves. Frankly, if you can't figure out who you are first, I am sure as heck not going to be able to do it... The same goes with people who don't like pictures of themselves. From my experience, not wanting to look at yourself on a physical level goes to not wanting to look at yourself on a deeper level. I apparently have a collection of soap-boxes, and I enjoy using them. That moment, when you crack the top of a Creme-brulee... it's a pretty wonderful moment. Every year or two I go back home... and I am constantly reminded of why I live in SoCal. I am allergic to snow, just so you know.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Currently I am taking my 45,000 image archive of my photography and rendering out the raw files to .jpg, and eliminating any superfluous files to save space on my drive... Then I plan to micropublish books of my photography for my friends and family. (so, I'm at my computer a lot more than I would like lately... in between work & sleep) I'm an ex-Mouse employee, at various times from 2000 to 2007... Currently managing for a big bookstore, and loving it. I miss the Jungle Cruise, but what can ya do?

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Getting myself into stores 5 minutes before they close. I can put together a pretty damn good brunch, or creme brulee... I can make a mean chicken. (Well, I can't make him mean, but a lifetime on the streets... that's what makes them mean.) I can pun, roll witticisms off the tongue, and sing passably well at Karaoke. (and I am almost at the point where I have beat Guitar Hero 2 at Medium level... Hard? not even gonna try) I am fantastic at listening...

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

Lately, it's the long hair and the facial scruff that has built up... After 5 years with Disney I needed a break from the "clean cut" image. I am told I get a lot of first impressions of Confidence/Arrogance, and that it's a hard line to walk. Probably, in all reality, they notice me talking... way too much.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

To read, to listen, to eat; is to live... (Horribly paraphrased... sorry Oscar) I am sure that everyone has seen the laundry lists populating the OKC profiles, and the constant cries of "how can one possibly pick"... so, this is just a sampling... (I also believe that you can tell more from the mutual interests you dislike than the interests you share... just a thought.) Books, my last 5... The Average American Male, Chad Kultgen. Look, this one could be a long journal post, but it's scary, amazing, and a mindfuck. The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman. (Yes, I have already read it...) Dies the Fire, S.M. Stirling. (Best depiction of Wicca I have ever read in a fantasy novel.) Crooked Little Vein, Warren Ellis. (Quite possibly the most disturbing sexual practices I have yet to read in a book.) The Dresden Files, Jim Butcher. (Raymond Chandler meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer) The Book of Love, Rumi. (Translated by Coleman Banks) Movies... Juno (loved it) Baby Mama (Dreadful, but Steve Martin was magnificent) Hellboy 2 (amazing, can't wait for The Hobbit) V for Vendetta (Had to watch it again...) The Dark Knight (Um... I liked it, but I thought it would have been hard to live up to the hype... Movies, the "legacy list" Dr Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, Brazil, Clerks, Spirited Away Music... Pandora.com is totally my friend... I love internet radio served up like that. The The, Catherine Wheel, They Might Be Giants, Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Smiths, Siouxie, oldschool REM, Dresden Dolls, Kerli, Tori Amos... Oldschool loves include Neil Diamond, Sinatra, the occasional Buffet song, fat Elvis, and old broadway show tunes. (I will do a quick sample of my ITunes and post up the first 10 songs that come up... just for giggles.) (also, I am a man unafraid to use the word "giggles") Food... There is little I will not try at least once, although I would not say I have the cast-iron stomach that Anthony Bourdain has. There's a Guatemalan place next to my house that serves tongue, and brains, and heart... and that's a bit over my limits. I love sushi, thai, this noodle place near UCI, home-made sandwiches, Rubios, Memphis, greek, tapas, creole and cajun... my tastes are pretty eclectic, and I do have to say that I have had many a relationship that seems to have been negatively impacted by trying to date an overly picky eater. (oh, and I have recently discovered Fresh & Easy markets... find one. Go. Now. Trust me...) TV... Actually have a TV again, but no cable, so I am all internet... still, favorite shows include Heroes, Lost, True Blood, Dexter, Top Chef, Runway, Carnivale... I am a bit of a nerd/geek, and recently just downloaded and watched all 93 episodes of Justice League/Unlimited. (Am currently going through the Peter Davison years of Doctor Who...)

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

1. Numerically ordered lists. 2. tuna sashimi 3. caffeine... (hence my dating baristas) 4. Family/love. (is the same thing, really.) 5. Fresh fruit/veggies 6. Copious amounts of physical contact, sexual or non. Because I am big on the whole touching thing.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Death... and life.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

Working, usually. For some reason I usually pull the Fri & Sunday closing shifts. Ah, retail... If I were not, my preference would be that i would be hunkered over a board game with friends, wine, cheese, and great conversation.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I was the original author of the Disneyland Ride Sexuality Test... you should take it, and maybe I will re-write it some day...

You are a nymphomaniac bibliophile foodie with geeky glasses who enjoys having pictures taken of yourself, a penchant for pop culture references, and a nearly inexhaustable tolerance of puns. (and if you are not exactly, or even close to the above, and have read through all of this dreck and drivel, please feel free to drop me a line...) Please note, I am a firm believer in the power of the OKC matching system. Unless you are a 75% or better match, there's not a lot of likelihood that we're going to do well together. Also, to be fair, I will say that I tend to play better with people my age or younger... mostly younger. Finally, I never thought that the days of Spam would ever hit OKCupid, but I am receiving a lot of junk mail, russian mail order brides (assembly required?), and general craptasticness. If you've read this far, would you have the subject of your email to me include the phrase "Bite My Shiny Metal Ass", so I know you read my whole profile? Ok, thnx, bai...
