My Notes edit

My self-summary

Quick update: As of 2008 I now live in Fairfax, VA (just outside of DC), already missing my friends back in San Francisco. If you live in the DC area and want to show a newcomer your favorite place for food, fun, or just a little known cool place to go, please drop me a message.

-----------

Goth boy up for anything, particularly learning new skills, exploring for cool places and finding unconventional things to do. As an example, I just spent last weekend partying with 500 people dressed as Santas/elves/reindeer (and one Chanukah Chicken), drinking, exploring, freaking out tourists, and singing alternative Carols. On a more average day, I'm probably clubbing, watching movies, playing video games, playing sports, participating in Burning Man activities, or just having a few drinks with friends.

There's always been 2 sides to me: (1) the responsible, organized, quiet, shy, geeky boy hiding in the corner and (2) the playful, whimsical, weird, creative freak who's looking for something fun and silly to do. Unfortunately I've lost my silly. Hopefully I can meet people who can appreciate my logical side but also hope me find my silly again!

What I'm doing with my life

Mostly video games - both playing and making them.

I'm really good at

wiggling my nose (but only to the right), avoiding drama in my life, communicating (except when it comes to mushy stuff), DJing 80s or goth/industrial music (ok I'm not *really* good but I enjoy trying), math/logic/programming, chess, ping-pong/tennis/pretty much anything using a paddle :)

Things I'm really bad at: remembering things I want to remember (for some reason the pointless stuff always sticks), spending too much time on the Internet and playing games, keeping my desk from getting cluttery, adding a "y" to the end of nouns in order to make non-existent adjectives

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(A) mostly game development books lately but also Neil Gaiman graphic novels, Jhonen Vasquez graphic novels, and Harry Potter

(B) Princess Bride, Mirror Mask, both Star Wars trilogies, John Hughes and other 80s movies, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Army of Darkness, Orgasmo, City of Lost Children, Pink Floyd's The Wall

(C) pretty much any goth, industrial, 80s, synthpop. Favorite bands include Depeche Mode, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Apoptygma Berzerk

(D) Anything with lots of sauces or dips, so Italian and fondues are big favorites. I love almost all fruit, most vegetables, gummi worms are my fav snack and ice cream is my fav dessert.

(E) Favorite TV shows: most animated TV shows but especially The Simpsons and Invader Zim, The 4400 (does anyone else have an emotional reaction to the title song)

(F) Favorite Video Games: most MMOs, shooters, RPGs, puzzle games, and PS2 action/adventure games. Currently playing: World of Warcraft, Ratchet: Deadlocked, We love Katamari, and God of War

The six things I could never do without

a computer (including Internet and games), hugs from friends, my cats, getting a good night's sleep, feeling like I'm helping others or generally making the world a better place, and ice cream

I spend a lot of time thinking about

sociological problems and politics

On a typical Friday night I am

playing World of Warcraft with friends or drinking/dancing at a club

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I did so bad on the Virgin Test that OKCupid didn't even record it on my profile (and I was definitely logged in at the time.) My score: "You got 3 of the 21 people correct, and you did better recognizing the virginity girls. Overall, you guessed better than 0% of all test takers."

Let me repeat that: "you guessed better than 0% of all test takers"?!? In other words, I'm the worst virgin guesser OKCupid has ever seen - yikes! Apparently it's been so long since I've been around a virgin, I forgot what one looked like :)
