My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a policy wonk, reader, foodie, wine-knowledgeable person (not a wine snob, expert or wino) and dog chaser.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
is working, going to work, trying to figure out online dating, the barn dance of the 21st century. Learning (always), reading (ditto), keeping up with an English bulldog and wiping away the drippy drooly.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Hmmm, this is a hard one. I'm a good listener, a good friend (mostly because my friends are awesome), a good storyteller. If I'm interested in something, I'll put forth the effort to develop some skill at it. If I'm not, not so much.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is probably the contrast between my hair and skin. Dark hair, skin that doesn't tan well. I quit trying years ago and always have a high SPF sunscreen around somewhere.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

My favorite book list would be entirely too long for one website. I love to read almost anything, but my favs are sci-fi, history, literature. I hesitate to say I'm a foodie, but that's a good way to describe me. Love food, love wine, like to cook. I like movies, but you'd be appalled at what I haven't seen (I am too). Have friends in a couple of bands, so going out to see them is always fun.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1.) coffee: Was once told by a boss to NEVER come to work without coffee (again) and I was perfectly OK to come in late as long as I'd had coffee.
2.) wine: I've learned more about geography, climate and food since I started drinking wine. I have no favorites, but whatever's in my glass is always a front runner.
3.) books: There is very little that I'm not interested in reading. SciFi, biographies, history, news/current events and general fiction are my favs. I'm not really into mysteries and no bodice-ripping romances, but I'd read them (and the back of a cereal box) if it were all I had.
4.) friends: I have an incredible group of friends who are very important to me. You're not competing with them, but you'll have to share.
5.) food: Not just in the "calories fuel your body way", but in the "food is a reflection of culture" way. When I travel, I want to eat what the locals eat. I want to learn about a region from what the area produces and is proud of.
6.) travel: I don't necessarily travel as much as I'd like, but I think you learn SO much from being in a place different from your usual. Would never want to not have that experience.
6a.) football: I'm a scream at the TV during games kinda gal. I really like NFL football and love Razorback football. I'm pretty knowledgeable about the game too. I don't just watch and yell when everyone else does.
6b.) the tiny baby dog: He's really only the last one of those. Stubborn, slobbery, and very sweet and a darn good dog.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
many things. There are few subjects I am not interested in learning more about. I spend time thinking. And isn't that the point?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm not sure I have a "typical" Friday night. I may be home decompressing from the week or I may be out kicking up my heels. Just depends on what's out there and what I'm in the mood for.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
here on the internets? Hmmmm. I'm a fairly open book in that there's not a lot in my past that I'm ashamed of. Things I could have done differently? Sure, but I'm comfortable with those events because they shaped who I am now.
