My self-summary
Once while I was drinking at a bar in Cambodia a stranger drunkenly and explicitly confessed to me how conflicted he felt about an escapade with a Thai ladyboy. I drank the best cheap beer in Cambodia while I listened to this guy pour his heart out and tried to figure out just what in the hell I was going to say when he finished. Fortunately, Daft Punk's "Around the World" came on and drowned out everything in a five mile radius just as he started to trail off. The whole bar erupted into dance and he cracked the first smile I'd seen from him all night! It was downright spiritual.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to balance my intellectual and hedonistic desires.
I’m really good at
Deciding what to eat when everyone else is “down for whatever” and understanding that being feminist does not mean you hate men.
The first things people usually notice about me
I look younger than I am, but I love it because it makes easy for me to go undercover at high schools and bust up drug rings. I usually become friends with the people I least expected to and learn important life lessons.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The last two movies I truly cared about were "Her" and "Spring Breakers." "Her" was lovely, but it lacked the "oh god what am I looking at my brain is melting" hyper-stimulation of "Spring Breakers." In the future, I bet that type of thing will be regarded as some sort of mental vitamin.

Reading-wise, I'm in the midst of "the Pale King."

My all-time favorite band is the National. God, they're good. Just so good. Damn. I also like the Pixies, Guided By Voices, Chance the Rapper, the Fuck Buttons, and Purity Ring.
The six things I could never do without
You know that energy zone you slip into after intense exercise? That one would be hard to give up.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
It frustrates me that so much music gets listened to on iPod headphones and laptop speakers because the lower frequencies get lost. Music without low end sounds anemic and make me worry that its absence, if given enough time, will gradually turn me into a Republican. Can you imagine Ronald Reagan enjoying a really heavy dub mix? Of course you can't.
On a typical Friday night I am
...just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit!

(just playing y'all, I'm North Carolina to the core)

If you can tell when I'm joking, it's a good sign. Also, it would be very foxy of you to be down for the occasional indie rock show.
