My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm funny, generally happy, and curious. I like to learn things. I'm a dog person. I love to cook--discovered grilling this summer!--and I love to eat. I'm pretty happy with my little life but I think adding someone to it could only enrich it.

I’m a reader and a cinephile. I love to cook, though not bake. I get the same zen’d out feeling making a great meal that I do when I run. I’ve been a vegetarian and a vegan (kale = yes) and could be again, but for now I am enjoying the gifts of our hooved friends. Despite that, I am very interested in health, mine and that of the planet, and am always trying to move closer to an ideal state. The trying is the important part. Along those lines, I’m trying to move away from a desk-bound career and hope to become an acupuncturist. Currently, I’m an editor. I still love writing and “the life of the mind,” but I think I have more to offer, and gain, by engaging more of myself.

I love, need, and crave the outdoors. Hiking with the dogs and friends, or a few days of solo camping, whatever; I draw peace and inspiration from nature. I’m definitely looking for someone who can relate.

A friend tells me that I’m quiet on the surface but brewing underneath. I think this is true, but it’s equally true that I wear my heart on my sleeve. The most stupid stuff makes me cry, but I laugh just as easily. Really, I’m pretty funny, this profile not withstanding; sarcasm is family currency. Humor and kindness (and a tendency toward the handy—no doubt about it, a handy man is attractive), are qualities I’m looking for in a man. Quick wit, curiosity, the ability to summon gallows humor in a dark moment; these are all good things. Do you like music? Can you watch a subtitled film without falling asleep? Would the thought that you’d already eaten the best meal of your life make you sad? If any of this resonates let’s have a chat.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Besides preparing for the revolution? I'm an editor and I work with a veterinary acupuncture practice. Working towards becoming an acupuncturist myself (for humans).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
finding the funny in even the darkest stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My red hair and sarcasm.

I agree with Roger Ebert that a movie isn't about what it's about, it's about how it's about what it's about. So I'm up for any genre. Music: Grizzly Bear, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Damien Rice, Elvis (both), John Cash, Willy, Phoenix, etc., etc. Books: lately reading the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Soup
2. My dogs
3. Lip balm
4. Cardigans
5. Kale
6. Another day
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The whys and hows.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
either out and about or gratefully exhausted and in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This isn't really private, but I'm a little ashamed of it . . . sometimes commercials make me cry. That Google+ commercial? God, it's like Sophie's Choice!
