My self-summary
I have an insatiable curiosity for life and a good sense of humor. A simple statement, but true.

Really though, I never know what to write in these spaces. How can anyone? We're all multi-faceted, complex beings (well, most of us are). On top of that, I'm more of a visual thinker; words don't come easy for me.

I'm also rather shy and sensitive.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a job that pays the bills. Always looking for something fun or interesting to do, especially during the warmer months (I am much more of a homebody from December through March).
I’m really good at
Making people laugh.

Listening. Seriously, if listening to other people was an Olympic sport, I'd be a gold-medal champion. But only at the summer games.

Pinball. In fact I'm so good, you might say I had some sort of magical talent. Perhaps even a Pinball Sorcerer.
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically, I've been compared to a Hobbit, so I'm gonna go with that.

I always carry at least one book with me, in case of emergencies.

I can be kind of silly sometimes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I read constantly, and these days it tends to be a lot of non-fiction, memoirs, or historical fiction. I'm currently listening to the "Song of Ice and Fire" series on audiobook in the car too.

Movies: I used to watch a lot of movies, but not so much these days. I like all kinds of movies though, from just about every era. I also really like watching short films online; I highly recommend ze frank.

Television: I don't have cable or satellite, but my general tastes run towards The Muppet Show, Archer, Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, Daria, Nickelodeon shows from the 1990's, Upstairs Downstairs, Community, Arrested Development, Downton Abbey, Adventure Time, The Simpsons, Futurama, Bizarre Foods, No Reservations, and MST3K.

Music: I have a very eclectic taste in music. Some of what I listen to these days: David Bowie, Cat Power, Professor Elemental, Spiky, Bo Hansson, The Beatles, Crispin Hellion Glover, Warren Zevon, The Band, Tori Amos, Tom Waits, Shel Silverstein, John Denver, The Cure, The Decemberists, Smashing Pumpkins, Pete Seeger, Bon Iver, Vince Guaraldi, Bo Hansson, Schoolhouse Rock, Richie Havens, They Might Be Giants, Dr. John, Oingo Boingo, Beastie Boys, Martin Simpson, ELO, Van Morrison, David Lynch, Alice Cooper, New Order, Tears for Fears, Weird Al, Talking Heads, Lucille Bogan, Peter Wolf Crier, Depeche Mode, Harry Belefonte, Rasputina, Richard Thompson, The Mallett Brothers, Judy Collins, Medievael Babes, Miranda Sex Garden, She and Him, Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Nash, Johnny Cash, Frank Zappa, etc.

Food: As long as it's prepared with thought and effort, I'll try it. Chipotle's the closest I get to fast food.
The six things I could never do without
1. My glasses

2. My job (although I have a couple of ideas for a home business that I'd like to try someday, when I have the room for it)

3. My car

4. A sense of humor. I find a lot of things amusing, not necessarily "laugh out loud" kind of funny (although there certainly are times when that's true), but more of an internal, observational humor.

5. Tea. Japanese green (matcha, sencha, genmaicha, etc) are some of my favorites, but I love most kinds, including herbal tisanes.

6. My cat Ollie.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How big the universe is and how small I am in comparison, especially since I've started taking an amateur astronomy class.

Planning my next trip to my parent's farm up north. I love living in the Portland area, but it's nice to see the night sky without any kind of artificial light.

Whether life is more like a David Lynch film or more like a Far Side comic. (Both!)

Why nobody loves Milhouse.
On a typical Friday night I am
Unraveling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting...

Other then that, if I'm not at work that night, I'm usually relaxing at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have mild Asperger's Syndrome (high-functioning autism). I'm a little shy and quiet (I have to admit that I get somewhat anxious about messaging people here, so if I've looked at your profile a time or two but haven't said anything, please don't think that I'm a creeper), but I also tend to be very observant and often notice things most people don't. I also have a tendency to pepper my conversations with random bits of trivia, but that's about it.

I think zombies are overrated and mad scientists are going to be the Next Big Thing.
