Recently moved to Decorah from KCMO, and am looking to meet new people. I've found a few places that seem pretty cool to hang out, and would love to learn about some I may be missing. I dig craft beer, good coffee, and delicious food.
I love playing board games, trivia, reading, writing, creating. I have a couple tattoos right now and have at least three more in mind. There are notebooks scattered throughout the house with doodles and ideas for stories/songs/whatever.
Music is a passion of mine. Finding new bands, playing the same cd (or same song) over and over again, making music (my degree is music ed; I play sax, guitar, and piano), and seeing concerts. I enjoy taking in music any way I can and am trying to get back into playing more often.
I couldn't live in a world that didn't have sushi and tacos.
I enjoy cooking as well. My posole is not to be messed with.
What I’m doing with my life
Exploring and learning through new adventures. Reading. Plotting how I'm going to conquer most major Midwestern cities. I get paid to brew beer, so that's kinda fun.
I’m really good at
Trivia, making mix CDs, playing sax, finding the right Seinfeld
quote for any situation, talking to anyone, Scrabble, crossword
puzzles, knowing the words of every song, brunch. I kick ass at
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably the red hair. I tend to have a loud laugh at times, so maybe my laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm usually in the middle of a few books. Some favorites have been Franny & Zooey by JD Salinger, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, Jernigan by David Gates, and most Vonnegut and Dave Eggers books. I actually once randomly met Eggers in Westport so yeah, I'm pretty cool. Currently working my way through A Song of Ice and Fire series.
My favorite movies include Annie Hall, Stranger Than Fiction, Rushmore, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Drive. So many more. I like watching movies.
I try to keep up with Archer, Louie, Justified, The League, Workaholics, New Girl, and It's Always Sunny. Friday Night Lights, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, and Kids in the Hall are some of my all-time favorites. Really dug this season of Fargo, and I thought You're the Worst was nearly perfect.
Music is a big thing for me, and I'll give most anything a listen. The Dismemberment Plan, The Weakerthans, Talking Heads, Neutral Milk Hotel, Refused, The Dodos, WHY?, Animal Collective, Tallest Man on Earth, Doomtree (and the solo acts, especially P.O.S. and Dessa), the Impossibles, Japandroids, The Mountain Goats, HUM, and The Rural Alberta Advantage are a few favorites. Right now way into Tony Molina, Colin Stetson, and Astronautalis. Sturgill Simpson is amazing, too.
And as for food, I could be happy eating tacos, sushi, pizza, and barbecue for the rest of my days. I'm not very picky when it comes to food though, and I'll try anything at least once.
The six things I could never do without
delicious food (a cop out answer, but there's too many to list
individually - tacos, sushi, barbecue, pizza to name a few)
a good beer
That'd be a nice day.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The next beer I'm going to brew, the next book I want to read or
movie I want to see, what I'm writing about next, music, tattoos,
quantum physics and the beginning of the universe, tacos. And how
FX keeps putting out such damn good shows.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'll let you know after I get a few Friday nights in town.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can get sucked into a marathon of Law & Order or some cooking
shows for an hour or two. Also, I've been to a couple NASCAR races
for my old job. Sometimes I grow a mustache because of how
ridiculous it looks. And I'm not huge into the whole emoticon
thing, but I love this guy-- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You should message me if
If you want to grab a beer and discuss favorite breweries, sit in a
park and talk about the fourth season of Arrested Development, or
get brunch. Maybe tacos. Or some other combination of things.
