I am spontaneous, spunky, and reflective.

My Self-Summary

My name translates into “peaceful cascade”, a phrase which rather accurately captures my dichotomous personality. Ever the realist, I have my degree and work in the criminal justice field, but my passion lies in writing and working in the theater. I am ever reaching to achieve the goals I set for myself, and work hard to maintain the delicate balance of my physical and financial needs versus my emotional and personal needs. As they say, “work hard, play harder”.

Independent by nature, I am comfortable with who I am. I enjoy studying philosophy, sociology, and theology for I am fascinated by the thoughts and musings of those who have come before me and those whose ideas differ from my own. I find that the pursuit of knowledge is more important than attaining that knowledge. I believe that life is in the journey and that the truth can be found within yourself if you bother to look for it. Wisdom is achieved through the obstacles you overcome; happiness through the people you help along the way.

I know who I am. And I can afford to be selective, not because I’m the sexiest woman to ever walk the earth but because I don’t feel the need to define myself by who I’m with. Don’t get me wrong. I want someone to share my life with, but I don’t need someone. I am equally comfortable alone or with a group of people; sometimes craving solitude, sometimes social interaction. There is no trait I respect more than the ability to be mature when necessary, but fun loving and spontaneous the rest of the time. I like to spend my time in the company of someone who can sit and have an intellectual or philosophical conversation one moment and the next just discuss erroneous things. I also have no problem starting a conversation with a complete stranger and have often heard the life story of someone I’ve been stuck in line behind at the bank.

I tend towards the rational, always willing to communicate rather than have misconceptions get in the way. I am non-judgmental and think honesty and trust are the basis of a good relationship. That said, I believe jealousy is often a waste of energy. For if you trust someone, what is there to be jealous about? I also have a strong sense of personal honor. If I give you my word, it is as good as done. I stand up for what I believe in, regardless of how unpopular it is. But I’m also willing to admit it when I’m wrong. Straight-forward and blunt, sometimes to a fault, I speak my mind. And, frankly, I lost track years ago of the number of people who said they find me intimidating.

I consider myself open-minded and adventurous; always willing to try something new. After all, variety is the spice of life. New friends, new foods, new ideas, new adventures. I keep the tried and true, they are favorites for a reason after all, but I always keep an open mind, ever seeking to expand both my horizons and my repertoire.

I am a very sensory based person, and I find beauty in simple things. There is little I love more than lying in the dark listening to music or standing at the edge of a mountain face heart hammering and arms outstretched feeling the wind rushing through my hair and fingers. The warmth and connectedness of holding hands with someone, the goosebumps after running through the sprinklers at night on a sports field, the delicious contrast of cold ice cream and warm pie, the earthy smell of leather and sawdust, the breathtaking beauty of a single daisy, the mesmerizing ballet of hawks riding the thermal updrafts. Each moment, each experience becomes a part of who I am, shapes my personality.

To say I love to travel is as understated as saying that the sun is bright. I have been known to drive to the beach simply because I felt the need to walk barefoot in the surf and feel the salt air on my skin. I have driven ten hours to see a concert and then turned around to come back and work a double shift, caught a train into the city just to have breakfast with a friend I haven’t seen in a while, and walked miles across a mountain ridge to see the ocean of fire created when the leaves change color in the fall. I have been snowshoeing in Maine, toured Martha’s Vineyard by bicycle, walked part of the Oregon Trail, stood at the edge of the Grand Canyon, strolled down the strip in Las Vegas, snorkeled in the Atlantic, and thrown myself out of a plane at 13,500 feet. Then again I have also had impromptu picnics on my living room floor, spent entire afternoons plugged into a video game, lived on a friend’s couch for weeks so I could stage manage a theater production several states from home, watched every sunrise for a whole winter, and picked fruit in the fields all day so I could make dessert from scratch that night. But whether I’m running errands or pulling an all-nighter at the diner, I embrace each moment for what it is. I wake up every morning wondering what new adventure the day holds in store for me.

What I’m doing with my life

I've been working in the field of criminal justice for two years while saving to go to grad school. Gotta have a realistic career to support myself with and at least I'm utilizing my degrees.

I enjoy spending my free time working in the theater, both on and behind stage. Unfortunately I have been unable to find the time since graduating from college. Pretty much anything that requires a consistent schedule is out as I work on a shift rotation.

I have a passion for writing and find inspiration all around me. I am always striving to further my techniques, and am part of a round table writing workshop.

I run a custom costume shop with my mother, so I spend time designing and making clothes in many styles and fashions (you can check out some of our work in my photos). This seems to be a necessity as I also do historical reenacting and follow the Renaissance faire circuit.

I am currently in the process of getting certified in solo jumping for sport skydiving, a hobby I recently acquired. As they say, "If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you"!

I recently bought a Ibanez bass and am teaching myself to play. My friends (momerliscious) and I are trying to put together a metal band, which is rather difficult when there isn't much of a scene in the area. But come hell or high water, we will rock!

I’m really good at

I've discovered that I'm not really good at any one thing. However I do have the often useful knack for being mediocre at everything. The beauty of said point of view is the knowledge that I can always get better. There is always something else that can be learned, some other technique to be mastered. That's what I love about the arts in particular. They never grow old, because there are always new things to explore and experiment with as well as limits to push.

The first things people usually notice about me

Physically, people tend to notice my hair first. I recently cut a solid foot of it off, but it's still down to the middle of my back.

Personality wise, most people say it's my sarcasm and bluntness. I am straight-forward and honest with my thoughts, opinions, and feelings about everything. I also believe in experiencing life to the fullest and have a wicked (and often cheesy) sense of humor.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

a) I spend a large portion of my free time reading, everything from sci-fi to philosophy. I adore The Drizzt Do'Urden books by: R.A. Salvatore, The Lord of the Rings by: J.R.R. Tolkien, The Earth's Children series by: Jean M. Auel, The Sword of Truth series by: Terry Goodkind, the "Dirk Pitt" novels by: Clive Cussler, pretty much anything by Robert Heinlein, and many works of Shakespeare, philosophy, theology, sociology, fantasy, science-fiction, manga, graphic novels, and comic books.

b) I am particularly fond of independent and arthouse movies, foreign films, animes, epic movies, and comic book/graphic novel movies. Here's a random sampling: Dune, The Lord of the Rings series, Star Wars (almost exclusively the original trilogy), Star Trek, The Last of the Mohicans, The Patriot, Gladiator, The Phantom of the Opera, Strange Days, The Prestige, Donnie Darko, Requiem for a Dream, Memento, Taken, The Professional, Equilibrium, Aeon Flux, Pulp Fiction, The Princess and the Warrior, District B13, Wanted, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Master of the Crimson Armor, Shinobi, Battle Royale, Survive Style Five Plus, Ichi the Killer, Moon Child, Versus, Audition, Suicide Club, Akira, Howl's Moving Castle (and all of Miyazaki's other works), Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, The Princess Bride, Edward Scissorhands, etc. I also adore Red vs. Blue.
(Street Fighter, Soldier, and Starship Troopers are guilty pleasures. Yes, they suck but I like them anyway. So sue me.)

c) Music is such a big part of my life. I hope this is a fairly decent sampling of what I listen to. Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Dream Theater, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Graveworm, Sirenia, Tristania, Kamelot, Symphony X, Evergrey, Iced Earth, Rhapsody, Avantasia, Adagio, After Forever, The Agonist, Daargard, Dredg, Lacuna Coil, Vital Remains, In Flames, Lordi, Nightrage, Star One, Stratovarius, Porcupine Tree, Amorphis, Throne of Chaos, Kataklysm, Suicide Silence, Cannibal Corpse, Five Finger Death Punch, Van Halen, Queen, Godsmack, Metallica, Korn, Pink Floyd, Lamb of God, Chimera, Chevelle, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Nile, Ra, Rammstein, Slipknot, Breaking Benjamins, Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Creed, David Bowie, Plant and Page, Evanescence, Journey, Chicago, Sting and the Police, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Yanni, Enya, Kenny G, and many etc. I am open to all types of music, but I mostly listen to rock, metal (especially melodic metal), industrial, Goth rock/techno, classical, opera, etc.

c 1/2) I'm adding video games to this. I play many different genres and systems, having favorites amongst all of them. Best game ever = Tetris. The Prince of Persia series is my absolute favorite, especially The Warrior Within, although I have also played the Nintendo and Super NES games as well. Some of my favorite games include Gears of War, Fable, Halo, Metal Gear Solid series, Brothers in Arms, Call of Duty, the Resident Evil series, the Silent Hill series, Siren, Fighting Force, Contra (old school, baby!), DDR, Geometry Wars, Guitar Hero, Rockband, and Guitaroo Man. I suppose I have to add the Wii Fit to this too because it entertains me.

d) I absolutely love trying new foods and will give anything a shot once. I'm particularly fond of Asian cuisine, especially Chinese, Japanese, and Thai foods. To sum it up in a simple equation, sushi = amazing. But I also think that Philly cheesesteaks, gyros, pierogies, and tator tots are awesome. Homemade desserts are the best and something which I'm rather well known for, particularly my German chocolate cake and black- and blue- berry dumplings. And just ask me if I can cook with a Dutch oven.

The six things I could never do without

I've noticed that this website has a tendency to change this question to "What I think about while I'm masturbating", which makes people's answers rather absurb, although hilarious, most of the time. When I filled this out originally it asked what were "The SIX things I could never do without". My answer to that is: music, books, friends, free will, my mind/memories, and pen/paper for writing.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

anything and everything really: life, nature, people, philosophy, society, what the color blue tastes like, what a shooting star thinks about in it's last seconds of life, how much spinach I would have to eat to lift a car over my head, etc.

I've recently realized that alot of my childhood views on things have changed, and I wonder when that happened. Things that I never expected to think or feel or find acceptable I do now. And I don't know if it was gradual and I just didn't stop and take stock of that, or if it was more sudden and just kinda snuck up on me.

On a typical Friday night I am

usually working. However, on my nights free I am usually either driving ridiculous distances to go to concerts/visit friends, turning targets into Swiss cheese at the shooting range, working on my latest script, reading, hanging out with my friends, learning to play my bass, slaying evil beasties with my bag of ridiculously multisided dice, romping through a video game, or designing my next tattoo.

I'm game for just about anything. Although I love being out and about, there's something to be said for having a quiet night in on occasion.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Pretty much ask me what you want to know.

You should message me if

I'm interested in meeting a wide variety of new and fascinating people with eclectic interests, making friends, possible relationships, etc. Feel free to drop me a line.

When it comes to relationships, either platonic or romantic, a sense of humor is absolutely mandatory. And to be honest my humor tends towards sarcasm, nerdy references, and bad puns (seriously groan worthy with the occasional face in palm).

Turn ons for me include: a love of music/art/theater, honesty, confidence, spontaneous displays of affection (ie. unsolicited kisses, hand holding, hand on the knee while driving, etc.), little romantic gestures (this does not mean buying me stuff), adventurous nature, love of the outdoors, the ability to be mature when necessary and laid back and just fun lovingly random at other times (most of the time). Physically, I'm particularly fond of long hair or no hair. I love soulful eyes (regardless of the color) and rough hands that can still be gentle. The voice is my favorite physical feature, and rough/raspy/deep ones are the biggest turn on (and if you can sing, double win for you!), as well as tattoos and piercings. Don't be discouraged if you don't fit my favorite physical characteristics. I enjoy all varieties of features, those just happen to be my favorites. It's pretty much just a bonus if you have them.

I am also generally drawn to older men, as in a decade or more older than I am. (As men aged 30+ tend to have their lives together, know what they want, and aren't interested in bullshit and drama.) So take that as you will.

As for turn offs: inflexibility, fanaticism (political/religious/etc), jealousy, drama (not the theater type), ignorance, hate, vanity, mindless followers, people who are incapable of holding an intelligent conversation when the occasion arises, heavy drug use, juvenile or sophmorish attitudes, people who can't function without calling/messaging/spending time with their significant other every single day (pretty much REALLY clingy people), etc.
