My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Please note this whole profile is always and forever a work in progress, and there is a lot more to me than I can put down here, just as I hope there is a lot more to you than your profile suggests. And along with that, when I first started online dating I thought that the "sexual revolution" and "online dating" would mean more of a balance of how the sexes treat dating. I have found that this is not at all true, which I feel is very unfortunate. So please, break through the stigma of the "guy" having to make the first move, and if you are interested in me, send me a message. I always reply, even if it is just a one sentence question. As long as you convey a genuine wish to communicate, I will respond in kind.

I'm a backpacker, a car-free cyclist, live a vegan lifestyle including lots of tasty food and occasional random social gatherings, I like a good craft brew on a regular basis, and even host meetups for the aforementioned and other things. Breaking 'traditional' gender roles and asking me out is a turn-on. I'm attracted to a person, not a gender, so whether you identify as one or another, or something wonderful and completely other is cool, though I don't know how far this goes for me with dating yet. Some might find my views more radical than my looks would suggest. Even if we aren't a perfect match in the long run it doesn't mean we won't enjoy time together now, so don't let that deter you. Living in the present is important, living life with intention, as due to our perception of the world around us, the present is the only time in which we truly do exist.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've finally moved to SE, to the Buckman neighborhood, into a place of my own. And my job is going great too, even during the slower season. I'm working on freeing myself from financial reliance on companies that fund any sort of environmental devastation, getting even healthier with my new Vitamix, and finding others to share in my life and this journey. And it would be great if every couple years I could go off to reconnect with Nature by living in the woods part or all of the summer on epic backpacking adventures. While I am here in the city I'll try to keep educating myself on how to lessen my impact, live simply, and still enjoy all that this town has to offer.

And while I do know a lot of people that live in the Portland area, I don't currently spend a lot of time with many of them, so I am seeking like-minded individuals for evenings playing pool or cards, day trips or overnights out in the wilderness hiking or snowshoeing, or someone interested in going to brewfests coming up, among other things.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Backpacking, biking, eating tasty vegan food. I'm certifiably a good kisser and good at cuddling too, in case you were wondering.

And if you want someone that can keep up with an active lifestyle, I can bike or hike around all day, and I've hiked both the AT and PCT, so I have both the stamina and muscle memory for a good long hike or ride.

And I'm not so good at hanging out with people that are overly concerned about material possessions or sports/celebrities, except when I am hosting a Meetup event and we all have something else in common like craft beer or animals rights or what have you. Usually I prefer to be around those with more rad quirkiness than myself. So bonus points if you can take me out of my element in that way.
The first things people usually notice about me

A different beard configuration each time they see me. Though I'm clean shaven lately. Or maybe that there is more to me than meets the eyes, which can be either blue or green depending on the color of the shirt I am wearing. It is probably best that we meet so you can find out for yourself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

All of these topics in just one section? I think these are best left to find out after having met, as my tastes vary and matching them exactly isn't necessary for us to have a good time in the short-term, or maybe even over a longer-term relationship.

Basically I love to read, but don't give myself the time lately, but do try to keep up with National Geographic as I am a life member thanks to that as a birthday present from a relative, and I can watch most any movie as long as it isn't downright terrible (or make fun of how it is), don't have many TV shows that I would follow, but do have a few favorite shows old and newer and enjoy good documentaries, and I like bands with amazing vocalists and/or that are highly technical and excel at performing varied musical styles in some cases (I enjoy most anything though I am not much into most rap/pop or country).

If you want to have a marathon watching any of the following I'd be down: Star Trek, LotR, Firefly, Back to the Future, Cowboy Bebop, Superman, Don Hertzfeldt cartoons (I have Rejected and The Animation Show on DVD.), Seinfeld, Bones, Stargate, View Askew movies, Monty Python, Mel Brooks, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Terminator, Bruce Willis, Bones, and I am sure there are others I'm leaving out.

As far as food goes, just about any food that came about without suffering by fellow Earthlings. (To the extent that one can accomplish that.) Some favorite restaurants and foods are, Portobello, Blossoming Lotus, vegan sushi and related stuff like tempura and seaweed salad, the hot and sour soup at Vegetarian House, the jackfruit sammies at White Owl, flavorful tofu scrambles, Los Gorditos, ...

If further explanation is needed please do ask, or just ask me out and find out in person which is much easier.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Fruits & veggies, communing with Nature, amazing friends and my long-distance family, my bikes and joy for riding them, someone to cuddle with, tasty local brews with fun people.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I want the world to change to be a more compassionate place for all life. The next big hike, or smaller ones. (And I love to snowshoe!) Cuddling up with someone in a cozy tent (or an igloo!), or just at home watching a movie. And being completely honest, making out, being sensually close, and sex of course.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Maybe cooking and eating with Food Not Bombs, after that maybe going out. Or perhaps there is a documentary or show to watch that pulls me away from all that. Or I'd go bike swarming if you're into that. Or maybe cuddled up to watching a movie with you if the weather is frightful. ;^)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am an enigma, wrapped in a chocolate candy coating, wrapped in an enigma.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
-you'd like to get together and see if we have good chemistry. (For either the short-term or the long-term, both physically and/or mentally, either is great. :^)
-you want more than a platonic relationship, and want to explore that when chemistry between us has been established. (Notice I didn't put that I am looking for friends or pen-pals.)
-You think you'll warm up to me within the first couple hours of us meeting, because we will likely have a physical or mental connection. I want experienced, non-squirmish dates and potential lovers and lively partners, or random fun times if nothing more seems likely.
-you want to break the stereotype of the male making first contact, on this site or on our first date.
-You being vegan doesn't matter as much to me as caring about where your food comes from and how it came to you. However, I don't consider flesh or artificial substances to be 'food'. As long as you can enjoy vegan food (which should be the majority of any healthy diet, those things called fruits, veggies, nuts, and such; grown or cultured naturally) then we can enjoy each others company over a meal.
