My self-summary

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is that I dislike writing a self summary because I wouldn't expect anyone to believe that I'm not biased in my views about myself. Further, I'd assume that by putting some effort into my profile, I might appear narcistic or self-absorbed to some.

But here are some things I can easily say about myself:

I'm not narcistic or self-absorbed. I'm just a bit bored.

More than anything, I get my kicks off music and sound. Those two things combined make my job. My Hobby is my job - and I couldn't have it any other way.

I highly value my friends and would go through a lot for them if they asked me to.

My 2 cats are called Miu and Beebie; they're cheerful companions and I value them for their deep personalities and good table manners.

I used to live in the UK for a few years.

I know that thoughts can control and influence emotion and in turn can change behaviour. And I believe that that's a very good thing. It is just very hard work that no one else can help you with.

One thing I value greatly in people is a child-like attitude. The lack of pre-determined attitudes, open-mindedness, natural curiosity. I guess that means trying anything once - and being excited about trying itself, rather than making the goal of the excercise the findings to be gained.

To me, trying to understand something is fun, not torture. If something is supposedly unexplainable, there are pieces missing in the puzzle. I suppose some people might interpret this kind of reasoning as arrogant or naive. I call it curious, as I can happily accept if something is beyond my (or anyone's) capability or admit that previous assumptions I made were wrong.

I think my sense of humour ranges between witty and naive. I can laugh about very simple and silly observations as well as subtle, intellectual sarcasm.

I used to think that pride is an emotion without a purpose and certainly no positive effects. These days I realise that the opposite of pride (call it humility, selflessness or anything else) is no better, because the two are highly interdependant. I believe that the middle ground, the absence of both pride and humility is ideal.

I am an ancestor of William Wallace.

What I'm doing with my life

I run a company and am having a lot of fun doing what I do for a living.

I'm really good at

my job. Music. Making and maintaining good friendships. Giving OTHER people advice. Wanting too much and knowing what I should do to control myself.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

is something I wouldn't know since I rarely ask people about their first impression of me. Good friends have told me in hindsight that their first impression of me was one of slight arrogance - but they're good friends now (or still), so apparently it didn't stop them.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Some favourite books: I'm not big on fiction, so my list of favourites might look a bit random: "The passion Paradox" by Dean C. Delis, "Anleitung zum Unglcklichsein" by Paul Watzlawick, "What we believe in but cannot prove" by a number of clever scientists, "The world according to Clarkson" by Jeremy Clarkson, "The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams

Some favourite movies: American Beauty, Big Fish, Blade Runner, The naked Gun and similar, Thirteen Days, Donnie Darko, Stranger than Fiction, The usual suspects, Das Leben der Anderen, Being John Malkovich, The Corpse Bride, to name a few

Some favourite music: Steely Dan, Jeff Buckley, Donald Fagen, John Mayer, Tosca, James Taylor, The police, Chick Corea, John Scofield, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Blue States, Jack Johnson, Stravinsky, etc.

Food: I enjoy fast food as well as cuisine. Pretty much anything except exotic sea foods with tentacles, maggots and other squishy creatures. I have a dislike for eating meat off the bone. A good coffee can make my day.

The six things I could never do without

Good friends, good music, my job, a good relationship, good sex, plus the usual commodities (car, mobile, etc) that provide a sense of freedom.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

TBCCZ! (Noone will ever crack my secret code!)

On a typical Friday night I am

anywhere. I don't have a typical friday night. I might be working, I might be out with friends, I might be home alone.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

is green.
