I am boring, stupid, and ugly.

My Self-Summary

Welcome to my all new profile page. I decided to change the last one because although it amused me (which is really the most important thing in life), it made me look quite insane, and it normally takes people at least a couple of weeks to figure out I'm bat-shit crazy. That and the joke had worn thin for me, and as I'm not in the most smart-ass of moods at the moment, I figured I'd do a relatively straight-forward profile and even get past my paranoia to include a picture where you can kinda even see my face.

Anyhow, the main reason I'm here is to find pen pals in countries I am either planning to visit or would like to visit someday, so if you're wondering why you have a message in your inbox from some dude thousands of miles away, that would be the reason. If I run across the profile of someone cute and interesting that's closer by, I might drop them a line too, but please understand that is not my primary objective for being here. Mostly I'd like to make friends in places far away that I've never been to. Oh, and the tests of course-- fuckin love the tests.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a union rep and organizer. My job takes me on the road a lot, so I'm relatively well-traveled as far as areas where my union has members. The entire Northeast Corridor I know like the back of my hand, and occasionally I get sent to more exotic locations like West Virginia or Moline, IL :)

Internationally, however, I'm not nearly as well-traveled as I'd like to be. I've been to Canada and Mexico many times, been to the UK twice, and to Venezuela once, but that's about it. I have a fair amount of interest in the politics and history of other countries, so I'd like to travel more. Specifically, I'm gonna see if I can get some extended leave on top of my vacation time to visit the following within a year or so-- the former Yugoslavia (specifically Bosnia, Croatia, and/or Serbia/Montenegro, maybe Kosovo too), Albania, Moscow, the North Caucasus (specifically South Ossetia). Given my limited finances and time, I'm sure I won't be able to actually hit all those places in one trip, and I'm the kind of traveler who likes to spend a lot of time in one place, rather than going to a bunch of different places in one shot, so I guess you could say that's my short list of places to visit soon.

Besides traveling, I collect and shoot guns, just for the hell of it, really. Also planning on starting hunting soon. Although I'll probably go deer hunting this season with a rifle or crossbow, I would like to try hunting using primitive methods (e.g. hunting wild boar with nothing but a knife)-- there's a school in Jersey that teaches this kind of stuff, and a place in Texas that arranges those kinds of hunting trips (and they're cheap), so I might be doing that this fall.

I’m really good at

Lots of stuff, but nothing off the top of my head that could easily be explained here or would make for interesting profile material. I mean, I'm good at thinking, writing, litigating, debating, and organizing (people, not things, my house is a mess)-- for whatever that's worth.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes and my hats. I'm a big hat guy-- no, it's not because I'm going bald, it's just kinda my style. I've got over a dozen Kangols and scally caps, three fedoras, two big furry ushankas, and over half a dozen ball caps. And there's probably some stuff I'm leaving out.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My tastes in this stuff is so broad that I'm not even gonna bother wasting my time on a list that will only capture part of it. It's probably safe to say that when it comes to music, I'm mostly a rock fan, especially old-school punk rock, but I also like pop, old-school country, old-school rap, opera-- like I said it would take a long time to list everything I like out-- same when it comes to movies and food. Books I mostly stick with non-fiction, particularly politics and history.

The six things I could never do without

This question really doesn't interest me.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics, history, other countries, zombie attacks, general daydreaming.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either sitting at home like a slug, out drinking with my buddies, cleaning my house or working. Who the hell knows? Depends on what I've got goin on that Friday and what kinda mood I'm in.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Uhhhhhh....I dunno

You should message me if

You want to. Yeah, not very original answer, but honest and direct.
