My self-summary
Hi! First of all, please allow me to take a moment to thank you for liking my photo enough to read the rest of my profile thinger. I think I'm pretty cute, too. So you're off to a terrific start.

I'm a native New Yorker who speaks sarcasm as a first language. My social circle is small but incredibly close -- I grew up an only child so my friends are like my siblings, and a lot of them have been around for a LONG time (I work on a daily basis with the guy who has been my best friend since I was five years old, for example. I was even the best man at his wedding last summer.) I cannot believe my luck that I've somehow achieved my dream of making my living as a writer. Now looking for an equally facetious, smart, nerdy, artsy girl to come home to every day. Does that make me sound too "Aw, shucks?"
What I’m doing with my life
Once upon a time I was a struggling writer, working at a talent agency, representing stars of the stage and screen to make ends meet. My best friend, who was equally unhappy with his job at a major record label, said to me, "Hey, why don't we start a music blog?" I thought that sounded like a fun idea, so we did.

Three years later, we were making enough money to quit our day jobs and do the blog full-time.

So yeah I have pretty much the best gig ever. NBD.
I’m really good at
Writing of pretty much any variety is my first love. Even when I had one of those awful jobs where you sit in a cubicle and blah blah blah, writing e-mails and memos was always my favorite part of the job. I also happen to think I'm pretty funny, assuming you don't mind sarcasm. Of course, nothing I've typed here thus far has been funny, but, y'know. It's an online dating site and I'm new at this. Cut me some slack.
The first things people usually notice about me
My stunning green eyes and girlish figure?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In no particular order: "The Great Gatsby," "The Sun Also Rises," "Snow Crash," "White Jazz," "The Rules of Attraction," "Lolita," "The Road," "The Shining," anything by Sarah Vowell or David Mamet, "The Dirt" by Motley Crue (possibly the most entertaining thing ever). I am slightly embarrassed by how much I enjoyed and how quickly I consumed "The Hunger Games" trilogy.

I'm a HUGE film nerd and see/watch a ton of movies, so this is a hard question to answer. I love all kinds of movies in all kinds of genres, as long as they're well-told stories. Some favorite directors include Stanley Kubrick, Terrence Malick, Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, The Coen Brothers, Spike Jonze... really, if you want to talk about movies, just say so. I can ramble for hours.

Television: "Arrested Development," "Game of Thrones," "The Sopranos," "30 Rock," "Modern Family," "Community," old "Twilight Zone" episodes. Currently obsessed with/crushing on Amy Schumer.

Food: Chicken makhani from the Pakistani Teahouse in Tribeca, the rigatoni with chicken and mushrooms in pink sauce from Pepe Verde in the West Village, anything from Buttermilk Channel in Brooklyn, and Pasta a la Me from me.

Music is also a HUGE part of my life, and I write about hard rock music for a living. But I have very diverse tastes: Guns N' Roses, Faith No More, Living Colour, Alice in Chains, Muse, Agnes Obel, Fiona Apple, Baroness, Mastodon, Florence + The Machine, Hans Zimmer, The Rolling Stones, Sigur Ros, Nine Inch Nails, Phil Ochs, Martha Wainwright, Satie, Saint-Saens... and Ice Cube's "The Predator" will forever remain my favorite hip-hop album. Shrug.
The six things I could never do without
Brain, heart, liver, at least one lung, at least one kidney, art in all its various forms.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Storytelling; specifically, the art of storytelling. Also, that big volcano under Yellowstone Park. That thing is scary, man!
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, probably either at a concert, a movie, or a dive bar. Or a concert or movie taking place at a dive bar.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Since I was about seven years old, the way I've remembered the difference in the spellings of the words "desert" and "dessert" is as follows: "dessert" has two "S"es, because you always want some more dessert.
