My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm kind, funny, giving, and way past caring about a whole pile of social norms. If you're a clear-headed, independent thinker, you'll probably like me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Laughing often, smiling most of the rest of the time. Or looking for parking, since I live in DC.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making other people feel at ease, driving, selecting acoustic guitars, cracking wise, building fires, making friends with dogs and cats.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I got there -- to the punch line, the parking space, first base -- just before they did.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

These days I write more than I read, and I'm a bit behind updating my movie and music lists, too. In books, I like classics (Don Quixote, Moby Dick, almost anything by Steinbeck) and science, evolution and critical thinking (The Panda's Thumb, The Demon Haunted World). For movies, again I like classics (African Queen, To Kill a Mockingbird), comedy (Monty Python is usually a good bet, so is some Woody Allen), plus things that are off-the-wall but not designed solely for shock value (Slacker). Music, I like almost anything when it's paired well with its surroundings, but lean towards singer-songwriters, established (NOT establishment) rock, some blues, and classical. Food, it would be easier to list what I'd prefer not to eat, a very short list including scrapple, haggis, and the brains of live animals. I love in particular Thai, Indian, Mexican and French, but I've enjoyed meals from vegan to rare prime rib.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I've been forced at times to live without most of the things I'd be inclined to list here, so I'll skip this one.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My two daughters, and how things will go for them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out on a date, perhaps?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
No thanks, not here ....

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're kind, take care of your appearance and health, have a sense of humor, and have found the secret to smiling and laughing under circumstances that make others bitter and resentful. Eventually I'd like to find a partner out of this.
