My self-summary
Foreword: I won't be actively monitoring the action here, so if you see anything that strikes your fancy, please take that plucky first step and send a quick note . . . I'll definitely respond to anyone who writes to me.

And, now, forward . . .

My friends will tell you that I'm unconventional, and that's probably true, but I'm perfectly capable among conventional people, and can even pass for one of them if need be -- so your friends and family probably won't question your judgment or sanity when they meet me -- but I tend to enjoy the company of people with a non-traditional view of the world, who are keen to have an out-of-the-ordinary experience this time around, who aren't satisfied with satisfactory, and who revel in run-on sentences. And shorter ones.

I'm affectionate, and passionate about everything in life, but I'm also calm, gentle, and generally unflappable. I'm doing my small bit to try to save the planet, and I'm profoundly concerned about the state of our country and the world, but I just can't seem to stop giggling. Really . . . it's a non-stop laugh riot over here.

My sons are now twenty-three, and have graduated from college. I've had them on my own since they were a year old, and made a lot of sacrifices to see them through to adulthood, but it was absolutely worth it. They're confident, happy, and successful, and are home rarely these days, so I'm now free to explore the universe. I travel often -- and I'd love to see the world with you.

I'm youthful and energetic, but I'm also stable and reliable. I'm a middle-of-the-pack triathlete, and I exercise almost every day, but I'm also really into good beer and wine, and I can easily imagine entire mornings spent in bed with you . . . talking, laughing, reading, and working on the crossword together.

You'll seldom find me without a tune in my head and a guitar pick in my pocket, but I am unquestionably the world's worst dancer. Seriously. (I am open to learning, however!) I think that music feeds the soul, and I love all kinds, as long as it's honest and made by humans.

I'm told I'm a great listener, the best kisser ever, an expert hand-holder, and give a splendid massage, and I'm prepared to back it up with action. I'm hoping to meet an affectionate woman who knows herself, who craves physical touch, who owns her baggage but isn't beholden to it, and who's ready for a deep, honest, and truly committed relationship with someone who will absolutely adore her (but not smother her).

If I had to guess, I'd say that you're active and fit, well traveled, and well read. You probably embrace your femininity but may not shave your legs or wear makeup. You might be into baking, but you're definitely not a cookie cutter type. You're likely to be affectionate, centered (but not self-centered), open to trying new things, and have lots to teach me. Your heart will sing when we're together, and you'll be able to carry the tune. You may have a wild or edgy side, and could be looking for a marathon or triathlon training partner. . . .

Oh, and as much as I enjoy playing, I don't have much interest in professional sports, so you won't have to pretend to care, anymore. Yay.
What I’m doing with my life
Practicing compassionate hedonism.
I’m really good at
All sorts of crap. But I'm an especially good boyfriend.

And that's a fact. Ask anybody.
The first things people usually notice about me
Yup. I'm bald. Apparently there are still those who can't see past that. The enlightened woman, on the other hand, will take the view of a dear friend, who says, 'That's not baldness. That's a solar panel for a sex machine.'
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Pretty much anything small, local, or alternative. I rarely shop at big stores, go to the multi-plex, or eat at chain restaurants. I love Ethiopian food, and just started doing Bikram yoga, and because I'm new to the area, I could really use a tour guide to help me find its secret gems.

I have eclectic tastes, but grew up with and still have a fondness for loud, energetic music ..... The Clash, The Replacements, The Pixies, early Elvis Costello (I like the other Elvis, too), and Radiohead. That said, Billy Bragg is my hero, and I'm a sucker for a good love song. And for some serious silence.

I love classics -- Hemingway, Dickens, and Shakespeare -- but have been reading a lot of historical fiction lately. At the moment I'm reading a biography of Kurt Vonnegut.

Sunday morning at a small cafe with the NY Times crossword is a ritual -- in fact, it's one typically enjoyed AT Ritual, here in the Mission. Feel free to come say hi, or help me with the puzzle . . .
The six things I could never do without
OK, so let's just all agree that oxygen and food needn't be on the list, shall we?

Touch
Awesome kissing
My bicycle
Music
The knowledge that my sons are safe and well (and the occasional phone call, you ungrateful bastards!)
Quiet
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What my next (and hopefully last) relationship will be like.
On a typical Friday night I am
I have no clue, yet. I've just moved to San Francisco, and I don't know where the hell anything is. Help?

Once I get the lay o' the land, I imagine my Fridays will often include bike rides in GG Park and the Presidio, followed by dinner and drinks, and very likely live music. Or none of that.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 40–55
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You crave affection, laughter, intimacy, and sincerity, and you're really ready to commit.

And because you'll make my day.
