My Self-Summary

I'm not looking for a Bad Boy. Been there, done that. Naughty, perhaps. A good man with a razor's edge of wit, sophistication, and a rich imagination. Someone who knows how to play the game, and when to bend the rules a little bit. Open my car door, pull out my chair, yes... but don't hold me at a distance. I won't break.

Let me shelter in your arms - then let me go out and save the world. Trust me to always come back to you, trust me to never betray you. The man who wins my heart wins my absolute loyalty, trust, respect, adoration. He should not be a stranger to good company and black tie events... but should still love to watch Kung Fu Hustle and do cheesy with a grin.

I believe in a life of good things. Like beignets and pho and unexpected jazz. Concerts and plays and grungy neighborhood dives. Bike rides and convertibles. Stillness. Desire. Vanilla is not my favorite flavor. Black is not my favorite color. The world is nuance. I see the gradations. I'm bouncing off the walls that Skunk Anansie are back together, but you'll probably find me singing show tunes with the flamboyant boys at the piano bar in Old Town.

I'm looking for a man. Full stop. I want us to make life more magical through a brilliant appreciation of what makes the everyday breathtaking. Are you an alchemist? Have you found the potion that makes love stay? Do you smell good? Can you discern when I'm just talking, and when I want your advice? Do you know more enchanting endearments than 'baby'? My pockets are usually hiding a smooth pebble for a passenger; I know where the milkweed pods are ready to send out faeries in the dusk.

What I’m doing with my life

I work for a political non-profit advocating for sanity and world peace. I'm trying to start an NGO that gives young people the tools they need to make the change they want in the world. I'm the giddy mother of a paleontologist six year old boy who believes the world is good and sane.

I’m really good at

Cooking -- used to do it professionally. Throwing pots. Out of clay, not at walls. Singing. Belly dancing. Learning tango. Laughing loudly. Making you blush. Being still. Big picture thinking. Synthesis and brilliant Ideas. Madly dashing off in all directions.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes. And the way I really look at people. I see. If I like you, I give you my whole attention.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite things: book: Underworld by Don Delillo; song: Last Good Day of the Year by Cousteau; art: Mondrian; jewelry: Cartier Love; classical: Dvorak; music: David Bowie and The The. Sudden rainfall, cooking for friends, riding bikes or hiking the C& O. Dancing: absolutely. Jazz: Esperanza Spalding. Escape: Eastern Shore or Maine.

The six things I could never do without

silly rabbit. trix are for kids.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

being in the moment, and enjoying the now, rather than fretting over the past or worrying about the future. Doesn't mean I'm not out to save the world...

I also wonder why the hell we spend so much of our lives chained to a desk!

On a typical Friday night I am

At Cork, or dancing at the Flying Fish, or otherwise happily occupied in something fun.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

you'll never be bored.

You should message me if

you really think you're up for the time of your life. Seriously. I give as good as I get. And then some.
