My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground. If only I were physically that tall.

Originally from Eagle River Alaska, joined the military out of HS, saw the world, got out to go to school and am now pursuing my masters in Stillwater, OK.

I enjoy getting out when I can, seeing some theatre or a band, or just finding a chill coffee shop. I'm an admitted coffee binge drinker and it is not often that I do not have coffee with me. I gave up soda pop in 2004, but I still need my caffeine fix.

Update: I am now in sunny Stillwater, Oklahoma. I've never lived in a college town before, and I was quite perplexed by all of the orange everyone wore, then I found out they were school colors and now I see orange even more.
It is everywhere, which I have found is all right with Stilly natives.
There's a bar right across the street from the fine arts building (everything I need is within a 5 minute walk from where I work), this could not be more convenient...or more they are so centrally located that finding an excuse to go to either of them for a break is entirely too easy.

Stillwater is growing on me. It is a small town, reminds me a lot of the town I grew up in, just without mountains. (I will make it a point to bring up the lack of moutains in OK)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Just finished the first year of my MA. Summer means research, research, research.

I like to stay active. I grew lethargic this semester. I am going to make it a point to get out more this summer. Camping would be awesome.

I'd really enjoy finding a yoga studio. If you know of a place let me know!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Convincing the undergrads I teach that I know as much as they think I know. I hope none of them see this.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I fidget and can not sit still for long periods of time. I always have a book of some kind on me, usually a script, but lately one of George R.R. Martin's amazing series. Or something to do with theatre history/theory/criticism....or something to do with philosophy. Gotta stretch them brain muscles!

Also, I'm told I have an accent. There isn't an 'Alaskan accent', not like the South, or NY and no other Alaskan, so far as I know, talks similar. Then again, perhaps I am conditioned not to hear fellow Alaskan's accents. Seriously though, there isn't an Alaskan accent.

Speaking of accents, I really like the southern lilt that some girls in Stillwater have.

Book: Song of Ice and Fire, LOtR, short stories in the New Yorker and Harper's Mag...I read a TON of scripts in my search for audition material. I have one on me almost all the time.
The Art of D'oh, Getting to Maybe, The Wisdom of Crowds.
I eagerly await the latest issues of American Theatre Magazine. I don't buy them ever, I get coffee and read it in the store.

Favorite playwrights:
Albee, Strindberg, Mamet, Simon, Racine, Aeschylus, Moliere, Shakespeare, Wilde, Labute

Just finished Dance with Dragons in the Song of Ice and Fire series. I eagerly await The Winds of Winter to be released.
Also: The American Political Tradition, Great Expectations, The Wisdom of Crowds, The Greatest Show on Earth.

This scratches the surface for my reading interests.

Movie: Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Bad Seed....the Criterion Collection on Hulu is a must see list of movies for everyone.

TV: Don't own a TV. I'll watch a few select shows on Hulu every now and again.

Food: I'll eat just about anything. When I travel I have to try the local fare. --I have heard tales that Stillwater serves fried cow testicles....I've tried some crazy foods in my travels, cowballs has not been one of them. Yet.

Plays: As You Like It, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead, Fat Pig, Under the Yum Yum Tree, Desire Under the Elms, A View From The Bridge, The Birds, The Visitor, The Homecoming, The owl and the Pussycat, Barefoot in the Park, I Love You, Jimmy Spud, Closer....the list could go on and on....

This list is very out of desk is a cluster of papers, books, coffee mugs..I suppose it only makes sense that I am all over the place in this box.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Theatre (this is a MUST)
coffee (this is also a MUST)
candy (I buy candy apple coating mixes in bulk, cook em up, and eat the candy when it teeth will fall out of my head I think, but its ooohh so worth it.)
a script in my hand
my friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What candy I have at home and what candy I need to buy.
When am I going to have time to crack open whatever it is I am reading at the time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
in rehearsal, working a show, reading a script, working on audition material....something involving theatre

I would like to meet a group of friends outside of the school environment to go out for dinner and drinks with, a great girl to take out would be quite okay as well.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
