I am funny, intelligent, and creative.

My Self-Summary

Well, it's 1:30 in the morning and even though I'm as tired as heck from the work week, I'm fighting the Sandman and staying up waaaay past my [self-determined] bedtime solely because I can do so by virtue of being a grown up. Next on my agenda? Running with scissors, eating the pop-top can of tuna from my emergency earthquake kit, and going swimming less than 30 minutes after consuming the incriminating tuna.

Now that THAT'S out of the way, a bit about me. For starters, I'm about as outgoing as they come. In fact, on an outgoingness scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a container of yogurt and 10 being that dude from the Shamwow commerials), I'm about an 8.9. Stage fright? I laugh in it's face! Public speaking? Show me to the podium! I take on such "challenges" with humor and confidence. Oh yeah, and I'm uber-talkative, just in case that wasn't already implied by the outgoingness factor. So in case we exchange numbers at some point, you've been warned.

I'm a creative person, which comes across in pretty much everything I do, whether it's inventing a unique new recipe in my kitchen, making wrapping paper for Christmas out of newspaper and tempra paint, or finding a way to keep my crazy curly hair off my face when I've forgotten to put a hair tie in my gym bag [I once used the stretchy band part of an airline luggage tag that happened to still be on the aforementioned gym bag. Yeah, cuz I'm all MacGuyvery like that. :)].

What I’m doing with my life

I currently work at a non-profit organization, managing the logistics involved in putting on fundraising events [working with caterers, ordering materials/equipment, collecting donations, etc.]. It's challenging work that makes the day go by quickly, and I'm fortunate to share the load with some fantastic, caring, and hard-working people.

In my spare time, I LOVE to cook. My family and friends enjoy reaping the benfits of my culinary wizardry. I make everything from Thanksgiving stuffing to enchiladas to Thai Peanut noodles, but by far my favorite concoctions are of the dessert variety. Cakes, cookies, tiramisu . . . whatever strikes my fancy that day. I also make a MEAN rice krispy treat so good that you'll think you're 8 again, munching away on the crunchy goodness while on the couch watching "Duck Tales" after school.

Also favorite hobby high on my list is acting, particularly comedy. When I have the extra money, I spend it on improv classes at a local theater. Though I don't currently plan to persue it professionally in the future, it's definitely fun and theraputic, and who knows - I may dip my toe back into shows someday (I was a theater major in college). I also love writing, and I've penned several plays, poems, and some pretty intense journal entries (ever feel like your life would make a great movie?).

Getting fit is also a HUGE goal that's definitely a work in progress. I hit the gym 5 to 6 times a week for a variety of torturous activities. Sometimes I love it [spinning, dancing, boxing] , sometimes I despise it [hoofing it on the treadmill, changing in the naaaazty locker room], but I usually manage to get it done.

Last but not least, I love to travel. I've been all over the U.S., plus London, Paris, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, and Australia. Next up, I'd like to see Greece, Spain, or Ireland.

I’m really good at

The first things people usually notice about me

My teeth. They are white, straight and plentiful (but not *too* plentiful . . . just toothy enough.).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl, Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married, a bunch of non-fiction, namely fitness guides and autobiographies.

Movies: Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Dead Poets' Society, Love Actually, Bridget Jones' Diary, The Indiana Jones Trilogy, The Devil Wears Prada, Finding Nemo, P.S. I Love You [mostly for the scenery, and by "scenery", I mean Gerard Butler and Ireland], In America, more Mandy Moore flicks than I care to admit, My Best Friends Wedding, Elf, About a Boy, and a slew of '80's classics [Better Off Dead, The Karate Kid, Back to the Future, The Breakfast Club]. I'm also big into the whole supehero flick genre (Iron Man, Spider- Man 1 & 2). A well-done action movie, spy flick or thriller [Casino Royale comes to mind] will do the trick too.

TV: (ooo, bonus category!) Glee, American Idol, Food Network, TLC (especially those shows like "The Baby with Two Heads" and "The Tree Man"), Ugly Betty, E! (The Soup, pointless countdown specials, ie. "Two Baddest Bad Boys of Hollywood"), Project Runway, House.

Music (in order of how much I like 'em): James Morrision, Gavin DeGraw, Missy Higgins, U2, John Mayer, Eric Hutchinson, Ray LaMontage, Mat Kearny, Michelle Branch, Counting Crows, Marc Broussard, Amos Lee, Snow Patrol, Kelly Clarkson, Ne-Yo, Stevie Wonder, a lil' Beyonce, Jason Mraz, Pete Murray, Michael Buble, LOTS of '80's stuff (The Cure, Cyndi Lauper), some Kings of Leon stuff, a teensy-wheensy bit of country [Taylor Swift, Sugarland], classical. I don't care for "dance" music [electronica/techno/trance], but I do like music you can dance to (Rhianna, Kanye, Pink) . . . I could go on for days. I always say a good song is a good song and I don't limit myself to a particular genre/generes.

Food: Gosh, just about anything . . . Thai, Italian, seafood, spicy stuff, almost anything healthy (and not-so-healthy), soft serve frozen yogurt, kalamata olives, breakfast food, mixed nuts, honey by the spoonful, vegan cuisine (though I'm not vegan, I rarely eat beef or pork). I'm DEFINITELY a dessert girl [pecan pie, cheesecake, carrot cake]. And hummus . . . mountains and mountains of hummus! I guess the only things I DON'T care for are hunks of beef [ie. steak, filet mignon] and sushi (I know - I'm a bad, bad Los Angeleno).

The six things I could never do without

1) Pajamas (preferably with pockets) 2) humor 3) music 4) Family/friends 5) my water bottle 6) writing

Honorable mention/#7: Infomericals

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life; the kind of person I'll be in 10 years.

Why it is that the more attractive I find someone on here, the less of a match they are for me, percentage-wise. And conversely, why the more closely a guy resembles something that crawled out from under a bridge in a Tim Burton movie, the better of a "match" he is for me. Is this OKC's way of telling me I'll have the best outcome if I'm the better-looking one in a relationship, or am I homely and I just don't realize it?

So I guess if Sloth from the Goonies was on here, good ol' 'Staff robot' would probably say we're a 150% match, and if Rob Pattinson (yes, the Twighlight guy) were on here, we'd be 93% enemies. Go figure.

On a typical Friday night I am

Relaxing at home with whatever movie has been in the [neglected] netflix envelope on my coffee table for the last several weeks, making a mockery of my $8.99/month membership fee.

Or belting it out at karaoke

Or having a girls' night [dinner at a good pal's]

Or '80's night at this bar/lounge I hit when I feel the urge to do the running man in an enclosed public venue and do not want to spend money to do so.

Or catching a show at The Groundlings

. . . but mostly the first one

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

1) When I was a kid, I used to practice foreign accents in my room with the door closed, and swore that one day I would go to England, speak with my British accent, and see if the natives could tell I was faking. When I actually did make it London at age 21, I totally chickened out and didn't mutter so much as a "Pip pip, cheerio" with anything other than my regular California brogue.

2) I'm on here because I'm too cheap and too proud to pay for eharmony or match dot com, and I'm hoping this site should will prove to be at least 17% less creepy/skeevy/pervtastic than the personals section on craigslist.

3) I'm the last person in L.A. still rockin' an actual cd player in a fanny pack at the gym . . . and I'm not the least bit embarassed (though if you happen to know to how to fix my ipod . . . )

Okay, so technically that's *three* most private things, but what can I say - I'm an oversharer. :)

You should message me if

You have nice teeth (seriously - for the sake of the kids, ya know. haha).

You are kind, laid-back, down-to-earth, in your mid-20s to early 30's, have a sense of humor (super important), a good heart (extra super important), old-fashioned values, and a tiny bit of edge. Someone who's close to his family and would go out of his way for a friend in need. Speaking of friends, that's where I'd like to start with you, Mr. Internet Mate-seeker - just two people hanging out, getting to know each other like teammates on the first day of soccer practice.

Qualities me no likey? Smoking, drugs, cursing up a storm, sex jokes, and frequent alcohol consumption. Sorry, but I'd prefer not to date anyone who already has kids either.

Cheers!
