I am cute as a button, smart as a whip, and spunky as hell.
My Self-Summary
Hey - I love
FOOTBALL and
GOLF - a much-respected friend said I
should lead with this statement....he said I'd be beating them off
with a stick. (Not a violent person; you maybe should know
that.)
I recently moved from Pennsylvania to Southern Georgia. Not a
Georgia peach - more of a transplanted Grape.
I am a vertically-challenged (5'2") redhead. My interests are
diverse - I love playing
golf,
bowling,
dancing,
music of nearly all kinds, the
beach,
movies,
games - board, card, and computer -
puzzles,
theater,
football - especially the
Steelers! Love to
read,
historical
fiction in particular.
I play a mean game of
Scrabble. Some say that's cheating
because I'm an English teacher - c'mon, look at that face. Would I
cheat? Lately I'm also playing a lot of
Texas Hold'em online. Learned to
play poker at my granny's knee, and never lost my love of it. I
enjoy casinos and slot machines, too - I'm pretty sure THEY
cheat....
Is there something you love to do that I don't do? Teach me! I hope
I never stop learning new things!
I love laughter - there are so many reasons to laugh! I'd like to
find someone who can also enjoy life's rich experiences, someone
who can find the fun in whatever they're doing, someone who is
willing to explore new ideas and consider the possibility of new
passions.
What I’m doing with my life
In Pennsylvania, I was an
English teacher for 20 years.
Yes, I am good at
grammar and I love
English and
American literature. Fear not, however; I almost never take a
red pen to what other adults write - unless they ask me to.
On a good day, I'm spoiling my grandchildren, but they live in the
North, so I don't get to do that much. It's a challenge on webcam,
but we manage!
In the meantime, I'm learning about my new home and enjoying each
day. Trying new things, having new experiences, meeting new people.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at
grammar,
editing, and
proofreading, as well as
reading and
writing. I'm told I'm an
excellent teacher.
I'm good at
cooking, especially when I have people
to cook for. The kitchen is a great place to experiment and have
fun. Never yet found a recipe that couldn't be improved or
tweaked.
I love
golf, but I
can't say I'm good at it. I play to have fun - that's what play
means, right?? Still, there's nothing like a sunny day on the
course, and maybe the right person could help me improve my swing.
The first things people usually notice about me
People usually notice that I'm short first. Next they seem to
notice my sparkling brown eyes and friendly smile. After talking
with me for a bit, they may notice my quick wit and easy laugh,
along with my intelligence and kindness. Oh, and my modesty,
too....
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books? Arthurian legend, John Grisholm, Janet Evanovich, Edward
Rutherford, historical fiction, fantasy fiction.....almost anything
in the library or bookstore, in fact!
Movies - comedies, drama, classics, action - Singin' in the Rain,
Simon Birch, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings....
Music - anything except hard-core rap, really....love Motown!
Food - all kinds, but especially Italian.....love pizza, good ice
cream, chocolate, and cheesecake. Whoa - that sounds unhealthy,
doesn't it? As it happens, I adore fresh fruits and vegetables -
the fresher the better, no need for sauces or lots of butter.
The six things I could never do without
1. My grandchildren (and children)
2. Coffee! hot and black
3. Books
4. Chocolate
5. Conversation
6. Shoes...lots of shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
whatever comes into my head....I'm not ADD, but one thought leads
to another and another and another....
oh, and how to answer these questions....
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night? Since I moved here, you'll often find me at home,
reading or playing around on the computer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Would this be my deepest, darkest secret? or my shallowest, most
superficial one?
OK, OK....I admit it. I love big dogs, but the little bitty ankle
biters get on my nerves. I'm only nice to them out of politeness to
their doting owners.
I also have a competitive streak. Some would say a wide one, but I
am a gracious loser, when I lose, which isn't often.....unless
we're playing golf!
You should message me if
You love laughter and banter and maybe some good conversation. Or
if you have a big dog I can fall in love with.... (that's a joke,
son - the big dog is NOT a requirement!)
