My self-summary
NJB on the UWS seeks someone who doesn't necessarily fit into TLAs (three-letter acronyms).

In the past five years I've also lived in Greenwich Village, near the beach in Tel Aviv, on the New Haven Green, and in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco. Each had its own charms and I had some awesome experiences.

I studied biomedical engineering in college and now I'm a lawyer. I'm looking for someone who will be able to talk about anything--whether it's the latest developments in medicine, sociological observations of online dating, or theories of how Bach's harpsichords were tuned.

I love traveling. My most recent trip was to Vietnam, where I visited my best friend, who lives there. Before that was Costa Rica, where I crossed everything off my checklist: hiking, zip-lining, off-roading, and seeing monkeys. My favorite vacation activity is jet skiing: I've gone jet skiing in California, Greece, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, and Vietnam. For my next trip I'm thinking New Zealand, but I'm open to suggestions.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a lawyer working at a big firm in the financial district. I love it down there, especially in the summer. So far my job hasn't been too crazy and I've been able to live a comfortable life with free time outside work. I love New York, but could also see California in my future. So bonus points if you're from the Bay Area and would consider moving back at some point.
I’m really good at
Fixing computers. Punctuation. Spreadsheets. Massages.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile, which I once sold for $100,000 (true story). Also my glasses and goatee, when I'm wearing them—which is usually.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
TV: The Sopranos, Girls, Suits (the story of my life!), House of Cards, Frasier, How I Met Your Mother, Breaking Bad, Homeland (before season 3), Saturday Night Live (I do think it's actually funny again!), The Daily Show, Cosmos.

Movies: Eternal Sunshine, Requiem for a Dream, 2001, The Hurt Locker, When Harry Met Sally, the original Star Wars Trilogy.

Music: Green Day, Metallica, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Guns 'N Roses. I may or may not occasionally listen to the Frozen soundtrack on my way to work.

Also, I've gotten into jazz recently. There's a great jazz club near me that I go to every other week or so. I am falling in love with the tenor sax. Thinking about learning to play!

And in classical: Mozart, Bach, Rachmaninoff.

Food: Sushi, Indian, Chinese, French. My favorite Italian food is Tuscan, but most Italian food is fantastic. Local is usually better! I'm a fan of shepherd's pie in London, currywurst in Vienna, tapas in Barcelona, and bún chả in Hanoi.

Web Sites: xkcd, The Verge, The Onion, Fark, fivethirthyeight

Books: My childhood favorite was always The Giver, and I re-read it every year. Gödel, Escher, Bach. The Power Broker. Plato's Republic. Deuteronomy. Alberts' Molecular Biology of the Cell (seriously, it's awesome).

For drinks it's usually red wine, bourbon, or a dark beer.
The six things I could never do without
1. Intellectual stimulation
2. Human interaction
3. Laughter
4. Peanut butter
5. GPS. I don't have the best sense of direction.
6. Cashmere. OK, not really, but I love it. I have about ten cashmere sweaters or all seasons except summer.

[The alternative nerdy version] 1. N≈10^36, 2. ε≈0.007, 3. Ω≈0.3, 4. λ≈0.7, 5. Q≈10^-5, 6. D=3
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Making the most out of my weekends.
On a typical Friday night I am
Having Shabbat dinner. I grew up doing that with my family and want to continue, but I have no problem going out to a bar or lounge afterward or instead. I love relaxing to live music (especially jazz) on Friday nights with a glass of wine or bourbon.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sing along to Top 40. But don't worry, I've taken voice lessons.

Also, I've used a #2.5 pencil on every standardized test I've ever taken, including the bar exam, because I'm just that badass.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–27
  • Near me
  • Who are single

You should message me if
You're smart and not afraid to show it, playful and affectionate, nerdy but can hold your own at a cocktail party, and cute with a good fashion sense.

Also, please don't have a picture with a fake (or real) mustache.
