My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Intellectual and melancholy. Calm and collected, usually pretty conservative in temperament, even if not in anything else ;).
I love history, economics and the like, but the more I discover, the less sure I am of what I think I know.

I tend to approach almost everything from an ethical perspective instead of just trusting whatever instincts tug at me, but I'm not generally known for imposing my views on others.

Music is my obsession. Can't pass a day without listening to it, can't spend a week without singing. Unfortunately my last band broke up a few months ago, and considering how hard it is to find a drummer (who can play in 13/8 ;)), a resurrection is not in the cards right now :(.

MBTI: infj / intp
Enneagram: 9w1
Big5: RloaI
Religion: Ignostic with a sprinkling of theravada buddhism
Politics: (left-)libertarian, classical liberal, feminist
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working on groundbreaking policy papers. Not finishing my second degree.
Reading tons of economics & history books in my backlog (NR: D. Kahneman 'Thinking, Fast and Slow', J. Israel's 'Radical Enlightenment').
Having my heterosexuality questioned by the sheer awesomeness that is Sam Harris.
Trying to get down to combine my own philosophical blend of eudaimonism, existentialism and theravada buddhism into a coherent whole and put it to paper.

Next to all that, I'm trying to wrap up Morrowind (plus a fsckton of mods) and maybe someday trying my hand at finishing Thief I and II.
After a year or two, planning to emigrate and enroll in a doctoral program somewhere.
...so yeah: wish me luck ;).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Singing
Combining facts and conjectures into my Grand Theory of Everything
Not getting in other people's way
The first things people usually notice about me

Music: generally weird, progressive, ambitious or somewhat pretentious:
--- Metal - especially death (Cynic, Death, Ulcerate), but basically anything goes; not too fond of thrash, tho
--- Progressive rock - the classics
--- Post-rock - a sometimes snack (Sigur Rós!)
--- Classical - kinda grew up on it (Dvorak, Chopin)
--- Hip hop - mostly alternative (CunninLynguists, P.O.S., Sadistik)
--- Electronic - newb in this field, but I enjoy some ambient, IDM, dubstep and several others and whatever the hell Bjork does
--- Indie/Alt. Rock - mostly unobstructive cutesy stuff
--- Pop - not much, but Janelle Monae and Kate Bush are where it's at
--- Jazz - not much, but I ADORE Keith Jarrett's Changeless; and Miles Davis ofc

Books: I read mostly non-fiction nowadays, but I've always enjoyed fantasy/scifi.

TV Shows: Firefly, The Prisoner, Star Trek: DS9, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Fullmetal Alchemist

Comedy: Chaser's War on Everything, The Daily Show, Tim Minchin, Monty Python, George Carlin

Movies: The Fountain, Amelie, Stalker, Miyazaki

Comics: Promethea, Watchmen, Scott Pilgrim, lots of webcomics

Computer Games: Planescape: Torment, Fallout (1, 2, New Vegas), Final Fantasy VIII, The Last Express, Gabriel Knight, Grim Fandango, Morrowind, Arcanum, Starcraft, Europa Universalis III, Victoria II

Food: Spicy. And chocolate.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- music
- chocolate
- atmosphere of about 950 to 1050 hPa, -20 to 40 centigrade, 78% N, 21% O
(- I'd add a few categories of people, but people aren't things so there...)
- the ability to count to six
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- economics, politics, history
- philosophy/religion
- how much cooler this TV show would be if I was a character
- what I should've said back then
- what I should say or do when that happens
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Psst... It was aliens!

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
...You think people should be treated based on what they do to and with other human beings, not because of how they look, what reproductive organs they have or how well they conform to arbitrary standards of gender, sexuality etc.
...You believe morality should be based on empathy, virtue and reason and not bad ancient literature.
...You love music in some form, especially if it's unusual.
...You know what it's like to be embarrassed of telling a joke so ridiculously convoluted that no one understands why it's funny.
...You're an interesting person who has something different and contrarian to say :).
