I am smart, creative, and sensitive.
My Self-Summary
Hi, I'm Emily.
I'm a layout and copy editor for a group of community newspapers.
I've known I wanted to be a journalist since I was a freshman in
high school.
I care a lot about my family and friends. I'm pretty laid back (or
at least I like to think I am), and I'm happy just
reading a good book or
watching TV.
I'm pretty shy with people I don't know very well, but that goes
away once you get to know me. Also, I care way too much about using
proper grammar.
What I’m doing with my life
I just changed positions at my job, so I'm getting used to
designing and trying to see if that's what I want to do
long-term.
Other than that, I'm just doing the best I can to live day by day!
I’m really good at
Writing. At least I hope so. But I've discovered it's much easier
to write about other people than to write about yourself!
I really love journalism. I think
reporting is a great way to continue
to learn about the world.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm really not sure what people notice about me. Probably that I
giggle.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: My favorites are
The Secret Life of Bees
and
Sense and Sensibility (and
anything else by Jane Austen). Right now, I'm really into
historical
fiction. I just read
March, which was excellent.
Movies: You've Got Mail. Predictable,
but true.
Music: I love the
Dixie Chicks but don't like most
other country music. In fact, I don't really think the Chicks are
country. I also like
James Taylor and tons of random
songs. I'm also the kind of person that can listen to the same song
over and over and over again without getting bored with it.
Food: I like most types of food, and Italian is probably my
favorite. I'm not a vegetarian, but I rarely eat meat.
The six things I could never do without
family, good friends, my
dogs, Chicago,
books,
music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about (and occasionally freak out about) what I want to do
with my life. I think it's natural for people my age to start
working and question everything they thought they wanted. Or maybe
it's just me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually just hanging out. I like going out, but not just for the
sake of going out. It's a lot more fun when you're with good
friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I get into what I consider an unusually large number of awkward
situations. Like the time in college I was hit by a car while
walking to class. Or the time my dance partner asked if I could
feel the beat in the music at all. I mean, really? People say that
to their dates? (My lack of coordination contributes to the
awkwardness, I'm sure.)
Someone also offered to be my sugar daddy...but maybe that happens
a lot on this site?
You should message me if
You're funny and fun to be around. And you're straightforward.
Don't give me any cheesy pickup lines unless you want to be laughed
at. Oh, and you can write in complete sentences. (I wasn't kidding
about the grammar thing.)
