My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a dc resident (Parkview, specifically), by way of Florida. Despite the fact that I wouldn't ever want to move back down south, I miss a lot of things/people and go back to visit quite often.

I never would have called myself a runner until a stress fracture in early 2014. Not being able to do something for 6 months makes you realize how much you need it.

Things I can't ever really talk too much about: national service, health, gender equality, craft beer, game of thrones, Florida politics, planet money, gentrification.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just started a new job that I'm really enjoying so far. I'm helping hospitals work more smoothly with doctors offices. I've been in the public health field for almost ten years now, and that's probably where I'll stay career-wise.

When I'm not working, I'm usually sleeping, running, cooking, happy-houring, lamenting the fashion choices of dudes at the bars, reading, spending too much money, text messaging, talking about cats, or dicking around on my phone.

I tend to take weekend trips quite often. This will probably slow down some this year because I have less vacation time, but I hope I'll find a way to keep it up.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Complaining about the metro, making fun of myself, planning my birthday parties, the humming part of cranium, being the second choice in cards against humanity, dealing with awkward situations (because I kind of love them), and cooking for 4-8 people.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a talker, so I would expect people notice me talking to them? I tend to smile when I talk to folks too, so that's noticeable.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Kurt Vonnegut (breakfast of champions if you wanna be specific) / the king / all the shows that liberal people like apparently / I have horrible taste in music / avocados
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My cast iron skillet
Running shoes
A cell phone
Cats
A few specific people
Coffee

*i feel compelled to say, despite the fact that it's probably obvious, that I could definitely live without these things if hard-pressed. i just don't want to.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Time zones (seriously, Arizona, wtf?!)
If I'm doing enough friend maintenance
If I'm a horrible cat-mom because I randomly decided to go to Pittsburgh
What I'm gonna cook for dinner
How my 30s are so different from my 20s (I can't beleive I used to have 4-5 beers, sleep 3-4 hours, and then function at work. Sigh)
The constant internal struggle between what's better: brick/wood or ore/wheat
OH MY GOD WHAT AM I GONNA DO IF SEASON 5 OF GOT HAS SPOILERS FROM BOOK 6?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I actually really enjoy the gym on Friday evenings. Then I usually hit up a bar or a restaurant with friends. So unique and interesting, I know.

If I'm in another city, I like to find random dive bars with good craft beer selections.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A few months ago my mom sent me money to do match.com. You know, she's "investing in her grandchildrens' future." I promptly spent the money on beer. So now I have to make up stories about match dates I'm going on.

So basically, if this works out, we'll tell my mom we met on match.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
let's start with... you have a shirt on in your profile picture. and you have read at least one paragraph of my profile.

other than that, message me if you're ok w/ losing a scrabble game, you like discussing serious issues in a not-too-serious manner, and/or you want to try a beer spot in a random dc neighborhood I've never been to.

probably not worth messaging me if you're conservative, you prefer staying in to going out, or you are allergic to cats. also important to note is that I don't have or want a car, so I don't often traverse to neighborhoods where they are necessary.
