My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am pretty active. Nothing ever crazy happened to me when I was a kid, I really liked high school. I had a lot of fun in college and Grad school. I have a Chemical Engineering PhD, so I feel like that should get me some props for trying to fit into a contributing society... My goal was to do something with the environment and semiconductors... I'm now working for a high tech company trying to figure out which direction I want to go in next. Ugh corporate America....

I am looking for someone who is active and fun to be around(duh… sorry, stating the obvious. ) It would especially be fun to do active stuff together, like go mountain biking (or even kiting).. You would be pretty independent, but of course realistic and not crazy weird about it..
If you told me you did something like taught yourself how to ride a motorcycle or got yourself into mountain biking that would be pretty awesome… Don’t worry, even if it was something less crazy I would still think it was cool. I just don’t want to hang out with someone who needs me for fun.. If we are a match you know what I mean..
I also really dig smart chicks...

Ok, here goes.... Gulp.... I would like to explain something here so that you know a little about where I am coming from: yes, my goal is to find someone I can spend the rest of my life with , have tons of fun with and hopefully some kids.
Ok, now the hard core part, I lost my partner awhile ago to cancer. We were going to get married and do the whole live life thing. Don't worry I'm not broken, but let's just say I have a greater appreciation life, health, and the people around me....

In a nutshell:
I like sporty stuff (kiting, climbing, Mt biking, yoga, running, and trail running, ect...) but not "sports".
I like good food.
I've played in bands, but recently quit to learn the piano....
I wish I watched less TV and got up earlier
I finally figured out what GGG is, and yes I passed...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am working using my degree... Kind of a love hate relationship with my job right now..
I also am working to learn the piano well enough to be able to play shows. 2 years is my target..
I try and eat mostly healthy and exercise.. (like salad with my cookies while standing....)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Pretty much anything with balance.. Probably why I like Kiting and climbing so much... I'm also pretty good at trying to push myself outside of my comfort zone..
Oh, ya and I am super good with kids... Probably because I totally love playing with them on their level.. Just a few weeks ago I was playing with a friends kid and we were having pretend tea and I "spilled" some, so she refilled my cup and cleaned up the pretend tea in a way that was so engaging it was amazing.. Made me wonder when and where our imagination goes as we grow up...
The first things people usually notice about me

Music:
Right now (because I am teaching myself piano) Ben Folds, and artists like Kate Nash.
Amanda Palmer... I love you.
(original favorite bands were/are: Primus and Jane's)
of course Jack Johnson (who can't like this guy...?)
Jamiroquai and anything funky...
And I will even put Serge Gainsbourg (because it will make me look cool...)
Talking heads (classic favorite...)
Stevie W., (the funky rocking stuff.. Like Sir Duke.. or I Wish)
Dvorak (probably my favorite Classical Comp.)
Even some of Eminem's stuff is fun to listen to..

Radio:
Pretty much only listen to NPR... (right now Radio Lab is my favorite show.... and of course I also love all of the others... The Moth, This AmLife, WaitWait, Freakanomics, ect... )

Books:
I really liked reading Life of Pie although it was a million years ago.. I started reading it from the middle. I had no idea what the book was about. It was my roommates and I was itching for something cool to read and I didn't want to get bored with another book because the beginning was slow... Little did I know this was the perfect book to have done this with.. Randomly I started reading right as the boat was starting to sink.... crazy crazy...

I am currently "reading" the Ethical Slut (book on tape). Interesting take on sex in our current culture.. Also, it's seems reasonable and thought out; not just a bunch of hippy free love stuff.. Don't get me wrong, I love hippies..

Movies:
Like a lot of dudes I like science fiction stuff...
I also love a solid independent film.. They don't seem like they are going to be exciting, but some of them are really fun to watch..(like, Me and You and Everyone We Know)

Food:
I like spicy
Pizza would probably be my desert island food, but it would have to come with salad (Like the baby kale mix at TJs, no dressing) otherwise I would probably get scurvy... (wait wouldn't that have to be a fruit salad)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Air
Food/water
The sun
Challenges in general..
Sporty stuff with different kinds of physical challenges
Tea

My desert island....
food would be pizza (kind of a cheat because there are so many kinds, but I do love pizza)
Instrument: Piano
Drink: water, because everything else would get old fast, plus you can use it to clean any wounds... :)
Music: tbd
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- How work is going to play out in the next few weeks/months/years..
- How crazy it is that we live in America where we have a lot of super cool stuff and many of us don't realize it... (I think it's because we are so used to it...) (No I'm not "that guy," I'm totally guilty of this as well... )
- How I can appreciate life more. It is way too short to get hung up on stuff... I am constantly trying to push to live like this is your last day (but keep in mind you have to pay rent at the end of the month...)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Doing something sporty or playing music or heading to dinner, or crashing and sleeping
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Not sure what to put here.. Maybe that I sometimes eat a cheese burger from a fast food place..
(Oh ya and I am finding it more and more creepy that a ton of people use the symbol of a tortured dead guy on a couple of sticks to make people behave. Kind of seems like we are living in a suspense thriller novel..)
