My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a warm, passionate & outgoing Chicago native who was friends with the punks, the nerds / intellectuals, the popular kids & the hip-hop heads – same is true today. I'm an unconventional smart-a** like Elaine Benes (except that I can dance).

I’m a political & news junkie, floor hockey & volleyball player. I enjoy the adrenaline rush from both the sport of politics (part of my job) & playing (not watching) sports.

I also go to a meditation / Buddhism class - a great way to decompress & escape. Music is a huge source of happiness for me so I listen to a lot of Sirius Satellite Radio & see a lot of shows.

I travel yearly on my own, but make friends for life on every trip.

Looking for an open communicator, comfortable sharing thoughts and feelings since it's key to a happy, healthy relationship.

You're ready to settle down - only if things develop naturally over time of course ):

You'd like to meet up in the real world, as real people - not just keep writing back & forth like avatars. ): The only way to know if there's a connection & chemistry is by meeting face-to-face, not by becoming pen-pals on the Internet!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Moved here 15 years ago for a career in progressive politics - currently trying to improve life for low-wage workers and immigrants (meaningful and exciting). I've been lucky at maintaining a good balance between work and play.

Enjoying the camaraderie of team sports, learning to counter the intensity of my job through meditation, seeing shows at the Black Cat or 9:30 Club.

Visiting a new continent every year while I'm still young and unattached.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Speaking candidly, making people laugh and eliciting personal information and secrets they didn't intend to share.

Most of my friends and colleagues would probably say there's never a dull moment I'm around.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes, my voice, that I'm disarming and that I look a decade younger.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Sirius satellite radio (music, comedy, news), candy, No-Doz (caffeine pills), physical / outdoor activity, good friends, the newspaper and dancing (perfectly comfortable being the only one on the dance floor, stone cold sober).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
All of the experiences that shaped who I am today and the adventures that lay ahead. Social justice, current events and politics until I reach a boiling point.

The duality of living between worlds - being a grown-up with my longtime/close friends who are married with kids while playing sports, seeing shows, etc. with my much younger and active friends.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I have an eclectic group of friends - I'm usually doing something different, with different people every weekend. Other Friday nights I'm a guest on a radio talk show - talking politics with a former boss, or out watching friends do stand-up comedy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I know less about my own religion than people of other faiths (I'm Jewish by birth but agnostic in practice).
