My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A happy, active, up-beat, real, and sometimes unconventional person... Jog, roller blade, swim, bike, hike, boat (Lake Travis), snow and water ski, yoga, working out at the Y, lots of live music, movies, theater, love to travel. good coffee, and a good book... on the move and enjoying it All. My life is good, very good. I'm in an incredible relationship with my life partner... a fantastic fit.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Me-- friends say I'm laid back and fun. I love learning, doing, traveling, & having intelligent conversation with interesting people. Young at heart... mischievous on occasion... having a good time... and intending to keep on doing so. A successfully retired professional enjoying life and staying plenty busy it seems. My partner and I are building our lives together, and that's very satisfying.

My routine things: yoga and or work out 2-3X a week to keep limber... jog/walk Lady Bird Lake... now that summer is back, swim 1/2 miles at Deep Eddy pool several times a week. Have a boat on Lake Travis, so go there at the drop of a hat (love the water). Bike and roller blade. Go out for live music several times a month. Play in a weekly poker game with friends... it's a social thing; not really a gambler. Don't drink, but don't care if you do... (no drinking problem here; just don't anymore). Enjoy dancing to "house" music, and occasionally go to the clubs, but not often.

That 180 mile / 8 day white water rafting trip down the Grand Canyon with friends was a hoot, as was Vegas afterwards. Like outdoor adventures... and to run off to SF and NYC every now and then.
Teach a dreams class every now and then. I get lots of answers from my dreams... a lost art. I've been an Eckist (member of Eckankar... a spiritual path utilizing the inner Light and Sound to experience Spirit and God) since 1972. It works for me... Love it.
Just finished remodeling a new-to-me home, and it turned out great. Now that's done, want to get back to traveling more.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Having fun... and instigating stuff to have More Fun.
Keeping up my end of an intelligent conversation.
Keeping new karma to a minimum.
Making the most of situations, and actually having a good time while doing it.
Knowing when I need to seek out more external stimulation, and knowing when to seek my serenity within.
Treating myself and others with respect... giving myself and others the "space" needed to make choices and learn from them.
Getting answers when I need them... It's a spiritual thing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm up for a good time. Don't let the small stuff bother me... Let it go and keep rolling. Not a victim here.
And Nice legs ;)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Love music... Go to ACL yearly. On iPod now: Deadmau5, Beirut, Gotan Project, Los Amigos Invisibles, Leonard Cohen, Antony and the Johnsons, Charanga Cakewalk, Erik Hokkanen, Chingon, Gogol Bardello, Jason Marz, James Blunt, Counting Crows, Del Castillo, Joe Black Lewis, Ruthie Foster, Eva Cassidy, Dylan, Rolling Stones, Rufus Wainwright, Willie Nelson, Annie Lennox, REM, Modest Mouse, K'naan, Arcade Fire, Bela Fleck, Josh Stone, Animal Collective, Queen, Andrew Bird, Flaming Lips, Zappa, Ghostland Observatory, Jeff Buckley, Neil Young, Sufjan Stevens, St. Germain, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, Velvet Underground, Thievery Corporation, Sonic Youth, Polyphonic Spree, Radiohead, Joe Black Lewis, Morcheeba, The Cranberries, Centro-Matic, Belle & Sebastian, Bette, Tina Turner, Josh Groban, Janis Joplin, Adele, Vampire Weekend and more. Also classical, especially Baroque and Mozart.

Enjoy good thrillers and dramas, independent films, and sometimes a schmaltzy human interest movie. Actually, lot's of other quirky stuff too, like Avatar, Up, Toy Story. Then there's my dark side, like Quentin Tarantino and Coen brothers' films. Also sick psycho-thrillers like American Psycho, Donnie Darko, Fargo, the Machinist, Silence of the Lambs. Six Feet Under, Weeds, Dexter, Deadwood, Nurse Jackie, Boardwalk Empire Shameless, Breaking Bad - like them all.

Seeing more live theater in Austin and would like to do that more often..
Good food!! Greek, Thai, Italian, Southern, Cajun, Mexican, some French... and lots of other, such as BBQ. Some of the best asian food in the world is served in Vancouver, BC.
"Running With Scissors" had me hooked from page one. You can't make that stuff up. It reminded me way too much of my career [you laughed to stay sane.] Burroughs, Sedaris, Don Miguel Ruiz, Dan Brown, Mary Karr. H. Klemp, David Brooks - all good. Need to read more.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My fantastic partner, being outdoors frequently; my friends; yoga to stay limber; really good coffee (and coffee houses), music (my iPod and live); the Alamo theaters; my inner spiritual experiences. Spiritual guy here (Eckist), but believe "to each his own". I contemplate daily; and my boat on Lake Travis ;)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Well... how incredibly fortunate I am... and how to have even More Fun.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Geez... it depends: My partner and I might be hanging at home after a walk around the river trail, or headed to a concert, at a movie with friends, out to dinner, on Lake Travis, live music, or maybe even watching something recorded, if in low gear.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Today's toys are amazing (been to a 3-D lately?). How did we live without GPS, MP3's and iPod's?

I want a car that actually floats, like the Jetsons'. If Nikola Tesla were alive, we'd have it by now.
Put me in the front seat of any steel roller coaster [DSM V Dx: Adrenaline Junkie, Episodic].
Rachael Maddow is the best out there. calling them All out. I'm way too much enjoying watching the Republicans self destruct... after having watched the Dem's do it so for eons. Now if the Dems would just find their balls...

And I'm a dyslexic PhD... and that was a struggle.

You think any of this jives with you... and would like to just hang, or better yet, do... especially if you are in Austin. I have a great relationship with my partner, so not looking for hook-ups or complications. Good company & travel buds are sweet. Be fun to be around... I am!
