My self-summary
Time Traveling Self Deprecating Narcissist on a mission. That's me.
I just erased 2200 question answers. I wanted to start fresh with something rather than pretend I'm the same person I was when I first joined. If you don't grow and change, then you're doing life wrong.

I would much rather hear an uncomfortable truth than a comforting lie.

I'm a contradiction. I love and hate with equal passion.

I believe in things. I believe in my friends who love me despite myself. I've been burned in the past for trusting too easily. But I trust because I love.

I am completely and un-apologetically myself. That requires a lot of introspection. I'm okay with that. I learn new things about myself every day, and have been quoted by a friend of mine with the profound (not so much to me) thought "If at some point you don't ask yourself 'Am I the person I want to be, and if not how do I get there' then you have failed as a human being". This is a very important thing for me, and I truly believe that to be a true statement. If you don't ask yourself who you are, and if you like you, then you failed.

I love to make other people laugh. One of my favorite things to do is make someone laugh when they're feeling their worst. I'll make a tasteless joke at your mother's funeral as long as it makes you smile. Most people appreciate that.

I will swear often and imaginatively unless given a reason not to. Children at a bar is not one of those reasons. Children in the grocery store IS.

I will often use phrases and words that are considered "British".
What I’m doing with my life
I have a BA in Communications, a AS in Collision Repair Technology, and currently I am working too hard for too little. I think we all do something similar.
I’m really good at
Being Blunt.

Being confused.

Thinking in ways that make people confused.

Some people say I am good at writing. A creative writing professor once gave me an A- on a paper "almost against his will." I don't actually want to pursue a career in writing, because I don't enjoy writing enough to do it every day.
The first things people usually notice about me
According to a friend of mine it's that I have a beard. Except I have to shave for my job, so now I don't know what it is. My energetic chortle? Probably my loud prepubescent voice crack I get when I'm excited.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Lists are tiresome, but useful. I'm not going to list every food I love, but I very much enjoy Mexican food, probably as my favorite. I'm not afraid to try most foods however, and more than once have eaten tripe because it was an experience. I like trying new things food included. Most recently I've begun watching "Chopped" and other food network shows that focus on how to make flavor and I've been enjoying it and how to cook better. Food quick and delicious has become my new passion and recently was very proud of myself for creating 15 minute bread stuffing and 10 minute beef terriaki with no recipe or anything. I love to cook now and while I'm not as good as Alex Guarnaschelli I'm not terrible.

Music: I love Nirvana (yes, I'm *that* '90's kid), Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio (pre "emo" phrase), Love "Retreat from the sun" artist "That Dog"... so much. Music is important to me, but I'm not one of those "THIS ALBUM DEFINES ME" guys. I can listen to just about anything, but I like weird indie, wfnx, radio 92.9 stuff. "Punching in a Dream" stuff. *shrug* I dunno. My music tastes are weird. Deal with it. If lists are really your thing I love the classic "90's" stations. From "Barbie Girl" to "Blink 182" "No Doubt" and everything in between. I feel like there was a connection to me and 90's music called "puberty" where we understood each other. *shrug* I can listen to other stuff to, but Green Day's "Dookie" Weezer's "Blue" album (as well as "Pinkerton" and Nirvana's "Nevermind ") are to me some of the pinnacles of music kind. Add "Maybe I'll catch fire" to the album list and you've pretty much summed me up musically.

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is my favorite movie. But I love many, MANY genres of movie and film (they're different). From "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" stoner movies to "Leon" action films, to anime of many kinds, to "Blue" "White" and "Red" the French films, to just about anything you can think of. "Warm Bodies" was surprisingly amazing, and I loved "Let Me In". But I also loved the new "Red Riding hood" with Amanda Siedfried. So... you know... I love movies. God, I even liked "Iron Skies" about Nazis from the moon. There is a time and place for every movie, and since I generally learn visually, I want to see them all.

...and there are way too many books that I love to name. Books are awesome. Print books! Though my roommate recently gave me a kindle for Christmas, I prefer a print book. Though I'm no longer so militant about the death of ebooks to recommend that they be destroyed. I love holding a book in my hand. However I will say that Terry Pratchet has influenced my life probably more than is healthy. I just finished the "Song of Ice and Fire" series that I got for Christmas. George RR Martin is dead to me until he finishes the fucking series because otherwise "why?"

I don't watch a ton of TV, but I enjoy some. "The Wire" I think is the best drama I've ever seen. Until I watched the Brittish drama "Skins" and that hands down is the best show (drama or otherwise) that I've ever seen in my life. Period. End of story. "Futurama" remains amazing. Old "the simpsons" are some of my favorites."Raising Hope" is good, "Fraggle Rock" I feel holds up pretty well. "Golden Girls" is still freaking hilarious.
The six things I could never do without
1) My friends
2) The internet
3) laughter
4) fall (aka autumn)
5) the night sky
6) imagination

As much as I'm on this site, and as much as I try to self edit, this is truly the things I can't do without. I have never thought of a better list of necessities. Except I could probably *live* without the internet, it's become such a ubiquitous tool for just about anything, that not having it can be difficult, even if I *could* live without it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything and anything. My brain and imagination lead me to some strange places. Only people who know me really REALLY well can deduce what I might do in any given situation, and those people are still 50% wrong... 25% wrong given the person.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either at home relaxing or out with my friends being awesome.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I want to go to Scotland more than anything in this world.
