My self-summary
Work in Progress. Not just me. This profile, too ;)

Depressed but slowly recovering.

And shy. Absurdly shy. If you contact me and I reply — or if I get over myself and contact you — I might very well be less than coherent. Sorry about that.
That wears off once I get to know people, and I promise I'm usually not quite that weird.
What I’m doing with my life
Did I mention depression? Because being depressed takes up a lot of my time.
It's getting better though, in a few months I might actually think about doing something with my life!

…wow, that sounds way more — well — depressing than I thought. It's not as bad as it sounds, though. I'm just not doing much, but I'm not miserable or anything.
I’m really good at
Oh, that's not fair! I'm supposed to be good at something‽

Okay, let me think.

I know my way around computers. And into them. I might actually be really good at that!
I read a lot. In at least two languages.
I 100%ed Super Mario 3D Land and beat VVVVVV.

So… yeah :/
I might not have a very high opinion of myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
My beard, probably. It's… considerable. Not quite Pat-Rothfuss-length, but better — or at least longer and more fluffy — than those of my friends.
My long a̶n̶d̶ ̶m̶a̶j̶e̶s̶t̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶f̶l̶o̶w̶i̶n̶g̶ hair.
Quite possibly my also rather considerable girth :/
Im not so happy about that, to be honest.

After that I hope they notice that I'm friendly, intelligent, and curious, though they might miss that over how shy I am.

Honestly, shouldn't other people answer this question? I can't read minds.
If I could, I would have put it under "I'm really good at"!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ah, this I can do!

📚 Books
Everything by Peter F. Hamilton and Patrick Rothfuss!
I seriously adore these guys, their writing just sucks me in.
It's actually a bit sad that there don't seem to be any other authors whose writing engages me that much.
I also love Tolkien and Pratchett.

I read a lot, mostly Sci-Fi and a little Fantasy, the occasional thriller and historical fiction; some biographies or popular science books; graphic novels and manga every now and then.

💬 Comics
I don't read as many comics as I did as a child, and I don't read any ongoing series at all, but my favorites are:
Azumanga Daioh
∙ The (Mc)Duck stories by Carl Barks & Don Rosa

🎥 Movies
Everything by Hayao Miyazaki.
He is absolutely the best.

Everything (maybe) with Jackie Chan!

A short, certainly incomplete list of other movies I really like: Serenity, Love Actually, A Knight's Tale, Terminator 2, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, 13 Assassins. I'm sure I've neglected dozens, I really like movies.

📺 TV shows
This is going to be a long list. I don't watch German TV, but I watch a lot of foreign shows ;)
So here we go.

∙ The Wire
∙ Doctor Who (the new one, from Season 1-5)
∙ Veronica Mars
∙ Buffy the Vampire Slayer
∙ Angel
∙ Boston Legal
∙ Law & Order (Logan & Briscoe forever!)
∙ Mythbusters
∙ My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Now to the Anime subsection:
∙ Azumanga Daioh ♥
Cowboy Bebop
∙ Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
∙ Ano Hana (don't make me look up the full title)
∙ Meitantei Conan
∙ ∀ Gundam
∙ Gundam 00
∙ Planetes
∙ Dragon Ball (without the Z, I find young Goku's zany adventures much more entertaining than the dozen-episode battles)

Again, I'm probably missing the majority.

My five favorite music albums¹ of all time² (in no particular order):

a. Kamelot - Epica
1. Yoko Kanno - Soundtracks to Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
A. Sonata Arctica - The Days of Grays
I. OverClocked ReMix - Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream
α. Orden Ogan - Easton Hope

I like Jazz, Metal, Electronic Music and Soundtracks, but I don't constrain myself to these genres.

1,2: Or whatever

🍴 Food
Spaghetti Bolognese, the one my mom cooks.

In general I like well-prepared but not terribly fancy food. I'm too lazy to cook most days, but I make mean sandwiches when I feel like it. And I know where to get the good Pizza, Döner Kebab or Bami Goreng when I feel generous.

In case I'm not too lazy to cook I usually make noodles with a simple tomato sauce and lots of cheese, my grandmother's famous Farmer Salad, or rice with mixed vegetables and lots of soy sauce… Like I said, I'm not a fancy eater.
Not that I mind fancy meals, it just doesn't seem worth the effort when I'm the only one eating.

🎮 Video Games
Fallout 1, 2 & New Vegas
∙ Deus Ex 1 & 3
∙ Mario Kart (all of them)
∙ Zelda (all of them)
∙ Super Mario 3D Land
∙ Final Fantasy VII
∙ Half-Life 1, 2 & Episodes
∙ Portal 1 & 2

And, as always, probably dozens more that I can't think of right now :)
The six things I could never do without
1. Music
2. Friends
3. Books
4. Internet
5. Uh… sleep?
6 is a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
1. Music
2. Friends
3. Books
4. …wait, different question!
…for the life of me I can't recall thinking about specific things.
I guess I daydream a lot of the time…
On a typical Friday night I am
At home reading/surfing the web/watching anime or in the local hackerspace hanging out with my friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm watching My Little Pony? I already admitted that above…
I'm not usually very open about personal things, and I don't think any of my friends know I consider myself bisexual, and yet it says it right up there.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 22–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
If you just scrolled down here, hoping for something witty/insightful/insane you probably shouldn't.
If you actually read everything above, and want to talk about anything or would like to meet me, messaging me would make a lot of sense :)
