My self-summary Propose an edit

I would generally be considered the direction-less artistic type. Though I do seem to have something of a drive towards the academic. However, the chaos that is my brain tends to funnel this in rather useless directions, so I wouldn't read to much into that.

I like conversations about ideas that most people would laugh out load at the suggestions of. I enjoy philosophical and religious topics as long as they are devoid of dogma and discussed with a healthy irreverence for the institutions or persons from which they originated. Basically, if it's something with a bit of complexity, that I can really sink my teeth into, I like it.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

My current job is in 'research,' which basically means I harass people all day trying to get them to do surveys. I shall call this a stopgap job because to do otherwise would be to doom myself to a life of utter tedium. Still, it's not the worst thing in the world. But, you know, I still like to convince myself super-stardom awaits and what-not...

I'm really good at Propose an edit

A lot less than I like to believe I am. I'm quite good at writing poetry and I'm starting to -- very slowly -- pick up the art of songwriting. Apart from that... erm... I play a mean game of monopoly.

That I either can't shut up or say almost nothing at all, depending on the company.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books. Mostly poetry, which I'm trying to avoid mentioning to people because they're generally not particularly interested. I do like a smattering of classics, though. You know, Orwell, Rushdie, Kafka, all that type of stuff.

Movies. Well, loads. I'm into everything from blockbuster trilogies (why are they always trilogies?) to political documentaries to highbrow art films by people with unpronounceable names. Don't much like romantic comedies, in general, though. Or teen dramas.

Music. Mostly indie rock. The Mountain Goats; The Decemberists; Tori Amos; The Smiths; Radiohead. I do like other stuff too though: the odd hip-hop track, the occasional chart hit. Bits and pieces here and there. I like a lot of Jazz and the odd classical track when I'm in the mood for it too.

Food. I don't really think about food that much. My favorites are pretty changeable too.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

I don't know if there is anything I couldn't do without, apart from the obvious, pedantic answers. "After a while you get used to anything," as they say.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

Probably playing scrabble on the internet with my ex-girlfriend. Sad but true. That's not to say I don't go out, though. It's just that Friday night isn't really a going out night for me. It's always way too crowded. I prefer weekdays.
