My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'd rather watch Die Hard than The Notebook. I never close cabinets. I rarely twist the cap all the way shut. I squeeze the toothpaste from the middle instead of the bottom. I take my shoes off in the middle of the room and leave them there. I haven't made my bed since I was in grade school. You will probably find my hair attached to your clothes.

I love a guy who loves cats.

I'm an atheist (actually, a secular humanist, but few people know what that is, so I usually just say atheist). I get a lot of messages on this site from people who are clearly religious. It's not that I have a problem with you, but you'll probably have a problem with me.

I smoke pot every day (I like to tell people that my life is a Dr. Dre album). I eat mushrooms every now and then. For some reason, a lot of people think that "behavior" should have stopped by my age, but it hasn't, and it probably won't any time soon. I rarely drink more than a glass or two of wine. So I don't really "party" and I'm not your typical drugged out loser. I'm more high-functioning than any sober person you know.

I'm originally from Los Angeles and I go home often. I hope to live there again one day.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just started my Master's thesis (on Haruki Murakami, if you care), so... writing writing writing. Heading to Japan in August to do some "research" (which is mostly just a rationalization, let's be real).

I write fiction (though not right now--see last sentence), and I've been trying to get a final draft of my novel done for going on a year.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Ranting about capitalism

I'm a damn good home cook

I make the best mixed CDs ever. It usually takes me a week or two because I really try to customize it for the person I'm making it for, and I'll listen to hundreds of songs before I come up with a track list.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not sure. Probably my crazy hair, which has a mind of it's own.

If I'm wearing sandals or heels or something with no socks, I notice that people tend to look at/read the tattoos on my feet while trying to look like they're not.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I hate questions like these because I don't think compatibility has anything to do with book/music taste. I know enough douchebags with good taste in music. Sure, similar interests are always a plus, but I'm looking for good people, not good bands.

That being said, I really like music festivals.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I think I could probably learn to live without most of the things I've grown attached to, but here's some things that I really like:

My cat
Yelling at the TV when Fox news is on

okay, I came up with three
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I like to drive around and smoke pot and come up with stories to write
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If I'm in LA, I'm probably out with friends.

If I'm in SD, I'm probably watching Bill Maher.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a total straight-girl crush on Rachel Maddow
