My self-summary
I'm a vaguely comedic, always awesome, sometimes sagacious screwball with an attitude. I'm equally at home at a formal dinner party in a nice suit, or in blue jeans and a T-shirt knocking back a beer with friends.

I've edited websites for a living, and now I'm an adjunct instructor at a local college. I also substitute teach for a small independent school when they need me.

I work out and keep in shape. I'm a martial artist focusing on Chang Quan and Wing Chun Kung Fu, and a variety of weapons. I'm getting ready for a ranking test in my school this month to make it to instructor level. It absorbs a lot of my life these days. If you're a martial artist, I'd love to compare notes and talk about styles. If not, I wouldn't mind introducing you to this wonderful world. And if you want nothing to do with it, that's okay too. It's part of who I am, but only a part.

What else? I'm a writer working on a novel, who doesn't have nearly enough time for all his books. Or video games, for that matter. That said, I recently finished my masters, and I'm finishing my first novel in two months, come hell or high water. I took a short vacation from writing it, but now I'm back to it.

Lastly: I want to date someone who can keep me on my toes, and keep pace with me. I want a partner in crime, not a minion.

I'm amusing, friendly, and looking for something new. Maybe you can help?
What I’m doing with my life
Kicking the crap out of the novel I'm working on. Working. Dreaming. Fighting for justice in my classroom, and trying to help trauma victims as a volunteer. I'm working on my cooking skills, and living in a new apartment in Ardmore with my awesome roommate.

Oh, and I'm having a stare-down with the devil; punching him in the dick when he blinks.
I’m really good at
Reading at graduate speed (a strange, hybrid pace,) and writing fiction.

Coming up with ridiculous and effective solutions to difficult problems.

Listening. You'd be surprised at how few people actually listen to each other nowadays.

I can cook like nobody's business. Got any good recipes I can try?

Incredibly geeky things. Ask if you want details. I love sharing my hobbies with people.
The first things people usually notice about me
"His voice sounds like a southern drawl mixed with a northern lilt."

I've got a father from Philly, a mother from Louisiana, and I defeated a stuttering problem when I was a squirt. The combination has made my voice fairly distinctive. It's kind of cool, actually. People say I'd be great as a voice actor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
You can skip this whole section so long as you know two things: 1. I support the John Waters rule on books, and you should too. 2. http://failblog.cheezburger.com/share/56282881

Also: I love so many movies, books, and TV shows that it wouldn't fit on this section without taking up two pages, so this is just my attempt at a short short-list.

Favorite Books: The Dark Tower series (By Stephen King). The Discworld Series (By Terry Pratchett). The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (By Junot Diaz). Gone Away World (By Nick Harkaway). A Farewell to Arms (Hemmingway). Player Piano (by Kurt Vonnegut). Dune (Frank Herbert)

Favorite Movies: Hot Fuzz. Diggstown. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The Avengers. Michael Clayton. The Evil Dead Trilogy. Star Wars Original Trilogy. A Roman Holiday. Arsenic and Old Lace. The Princess Bride. Silver Linings Playbook. His Girl Friday.

Favorite Shows: Chuck. Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Arrow. Castle. Life. Gurren Lagann. Attack on Titan. Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. Revenge. Parks & Recreation. Breaking Bad. Doctor Who. Firefly. Psych. True Detective.

Music: ACDC, Iron Maiden, Warren Zevon, The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers Band, I Fight Dragons, The Protomen, The Megas. No More Kings.

Video Games (This deserves a category): X-Com Enemy Unknown, Live-A-Live, FTL, Mega Man 2, Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Etrian Odyssey III.

Food: It is easier to list exceptions to the food I like. I haven't had much in the way of Indian cuisine that suits me, and I have a significant number of impolite phrases regarding the iniquity of cooked spinach.
The six things I could never do without
My laptop has every story I’ve ever written. My books are precious to me, as is my kindle. (It’s a portable library!) I have my dice, and my flipping sweet brain.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My Novel. I'm 115 pages in.

Gender politics, martial arts, and the weird place that society has put us in.

What I'll do when I finish my novel.

Horrendous jokes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working. Ask me about Saturday, it's a lot more fun.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My greatest talent is finding ridiculous and effective solutions to difficult problems.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–32
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're in the mood to hang out, and think I might be interesting.

If you have the confidence to use a photo that shows you for who you are.

Most important of all: if you have a sense of humor.
