My self-summary
I'm a born and raised, small-town-New England girl who moved to Boston in the fall of 2011 to get my Masters in Education at Harvard. In an interesting turn of the cliche, I play hard and I work harder. Through college at my undergraduate university and now here I work multiple jobs to pay for school. Don't get me wrong, however, I enjoy having fun.

My life is singularly unique for various reasons. I have never been on a commercial airplane. I have goretex abdomen muscles. I've had heart surgery, but you'd never be able to find the scar. I've never gotten black out drunk. I have more shoes than I know what to do with and more books than I'm able to shelve. I have five miniature poodles. I've never been on a vacation. I hate capital letters, mayonaise, and dirty snow. I love history, pickles, and lightning.

I'm hand sewing a quilt to silently protest how much technology has taken over our lives (or maybe because I still haven't learned how to re-thread the bobbin on my sewing machine). I've started taking pole dancing lessons to vary my work out and balance my extracurriculars. I can't sleep with socks on and I think coleslaw and marriage are dying institutions. I don't like chocolate unless its paired with peanut butter and I absolutely don't eat seafood. I am intolerant of intolerance, but I cannot tolerate voluntary obesity and voluntary stupidity.

I enjoy reading, snowboarding, hiking, hanging out at the beach, quilting, cooking, baking, going shopping, hanging out with my dogs, grilling with friends, hot tubbing, watching movies, staying in bed all day with someone i like and cuddling and wrestling and sleeping and eating and watching movies with them, going to water parks and amusement parks, going to the ocean, exploring caves....

Update: I just took my first commercial flight (to Chicago); it was fine. And, I just booked my first vacation: two weeks in Jamaica in July!
What I’m doing with my life
Just finished (in May) my Masters in Education at Harvard University, now working as a model for a marketing firm in Boston and as a nanny for a baby girl in brookline, acting as secondary caretaker for a young autistic girl, reveling in memories from my internship at the Franklin Park Zoo, and contemplating (and slowly preparing) to return to school for my PhD in history
I’m really good at
cooking, baking, shopping, forgetting to take my vitamins in the morning, spending ungodly amounts of time in the shower, making people laugh, and making people angry, making tea and then forgetting it on the counter, double and triple checking that i shut off everything and locked the door, sleeping, falling victim to my own OCD tendencies
The first things people usually notice about me
are my independence, my willingness to help, my freckles, my reddish hair that somehow appears to be the same exact color as my eyes, or the fact that i keep my cell phone in my bra for lack of a better place to put it
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: Emma, Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, The Millennium Series, Harry Potter, Ape House, Water for Elephants, Sarah's Key, Those Who Saved Us, Twilight Series, Lolita, Slaughterhouse Five, Julian, David Copperfield, and the list goes on...

movies: A Knights Tale, Wimbledon, Fried Green Tomatoes, Twilight Series, Boondock Saints, Red Riding Hood (2011), Must Love Dogs, Harry Potter, Eat - Pray - Love, Crazy Stupid Love, Drop Dead Fred, almost anything Happy Madison related, Super Troopers...

shows: while i don't regularly watch television and I just barely got a television for my new apartment, some shows i might hulu when bored include: misfits, downton abbey, criminal minds

music: most everything, except for music that features screaming, violence, or so much swearing that half the words cannot be found in the dictionary, i also tend to avoid a certain period of music from approximately 1940 to 1980 that I just have no interest in. One favorite that might surprise people: Billie Holiday. I am absolutely infatuated with her music - people don't sing like that any more.
The six things I could never do without
1) family and friends
2) dogs
3) happiness
4) honesty
5) literacy
6) milk
I spend a lot of time thinking about
i spend a lot more time than even i find reasonable thinking about how i think - metacognition is my weakness

i also spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about all the things i should be getting done

unfortunately, i also spend a lot of time thinking about cutting my hair - and then when i cut it i spend a lot of time thinking about how much i like long hair better than short hair....i love being able to pull off mermaid boobs
On a typical Friday night I am
out with various friends at even more various bars... looking forward to taking off my heels and going to sleep

Or perhaps in with good book and a mug of tea.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is anything to a friend, just ask, i'm an open book
