I am compassionate, dorky, and intelligent.

My Self-Summary

Hello everyone! I'm a college graduate, who just finished a degree in English, so I am going back to school. I've just moved to Dallas to attend UTD for Speech Pathology in January of 2009. I'm very excited about going back to school even if speech pathology is not exactly my passion. I'm also new to the area, so I know a grand total of about five people and none of them particularly well. This is a bit daunting.

I am a cinephile, bibliophile, and internet junkie. I was an English major with a mathematician's brain. I am a loner who likes people. I'm a hardcore fangirl. When I get obsessed with something, I get obsessed. I see patterns everywhere, especially involving dates and numbers. Sometimes I like books more than people. Sometimes I like fanfiction more than books.

Likes: glasses, skirts, eyeliner, Vans, Cons, flip flops, books, fanfiction, slash, pretty boys, pretty girls, vampires, artsy movies, movies with too much action, movies based on Jane Austen novels, British comedies, books, feta cheese, coffee, hot tea, cold tea, sweet tea, poly, instrumental music that makes me cry, music that makes me dance, my cat, Harry Potter, bdsm, sleeping in a warm bed, numbers, sodas, books

Dislikes: bigots, the fact that I'm allergic to coffee and just about every kind of milk, lipstick, high heels, Jane Austen novels, American comedies, people who don't use their blinkers when they drive, mushrooms, not getting enough sleep, people who are intentionally and willfully ignorant, playing games (both literally and metaphorically), flat sodas, overanalyzing books and poetry, poorly written erotica, chewable pills

Currently listening to: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

Currently reading: Shade's Children by Garth Nix, The Great Divorce by CS Lewis, and House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working on my Masters Degree and a practicum five days a week, so I'm very busy.

I'm also trying to get healthier, which sucks. I've successfully broken an addiction to sodas, but being healthy is really hard.

Currently, I spend most of my time on the computer, in class, on the phone, or reading young adult fantasy novels. Why yes, I am a dork.

I’m really good at

listening, being a mediator, talking to new people, smiling, watching people play video games, spelling, math that doesn't even involve letters

The first things people usually notice about me

my eyes and my smile, I think.

Also, the fact that, unfortunately or not, I look really, really normal. I just don't stand out in a crowd.

**Definitely the eyes. ;)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) My favorite books are numerous: The Shannara series by Terry Brooks, Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton, The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Chronicles of Narnia and the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, The Comfort of Strangers and Atonement by Ian McEwan, Dune by Frank Herbert, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, Affinity by Sarah Waters, 'Salem's Lot and The Shining by Stephen King, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, Fire and Hemlock and Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, The Alienist by Caleb Carr, The Shack by William P Young, Watchmen by Alan Moore, Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey, Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen by Garth Nix, Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and last but certainly not the least, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. I'm certain I'm forgetting something. Recently, young adult fantasy novels have been guilty pleasure reading of choice.

B) My favorite movies are Lord of the Rings, Donnie Darko, Into the Woods, Shakespeare in Love, The Man Who Cried, Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, The Last Unicorn, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Prestige, Frida, Transformers, Harry Potter, Intermission, Life as a House, Serenity, The Princess Bride, Labyrinth, Equilibrium, V for Vendetta, Practical Magic, Velvet Goldmine, X-Men and X2, Fifth Element, Secretary, Dear Frankie, Noises Off!, anything Miyazki, most Disney movies + Anastasia and Titan AE, Iron Man, From Hell, The Omen (old version), Everything is Illuminated, Stranger than Fiction, Finding Neverland, Slumdog Millionaire, Push, Coraline, 9, District 9, The Professional, Boondock Saints, Inglourious Basterds

C) My music list is fairly long but can be summarized with basically anything except most new country and rap. I love musicals (Into the Woods, Rent, Wicked, Aida The Seussical, Phantom of the Opera, Crazy for You, etc.). I like a lot of other music: Snow Patrol, Linkin Park, The Eagles, The Beatles, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, VAST, Rufus Wainwright, Loreena McKennitt, Pink Floyd, old Alanis Morisette, some Beck, some Bush, some Dido, Evanescence, Cursive, Duran Duran, U2, The Black and White Years . . . I think you get the picture. It's really a song to song decision.

D)I'm not a picky eater. I love TexMex, Asian, Greek, Indian, and Italian food. Cheez-Its are my guilty pleasure.

TV Shows: Bones, Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Lost, House, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Veronica Mars, Dead Like Me, Queer as Folk, Torchwood, True Blood, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis

Anime: Gundam W, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and my favorite, Full Metal Alchemist.

The six things I could never do without

my computer, books, paper, something to write with, human contact, someplace comfortable to sleep

I spend a lot of time thinking about

books, the future, food, fanfiction, pop culture, linguistics, patterns, money (unfortunately), kinky things, sleep.

I don't spend near enough time thinking about school. I spend far too much time surfing through IMDB and Wikipedia.

On a typical Friday night I am

watching movies, talking, writing, plotting, reading

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm into BDSM and am a submissive.

You should message me if

any of this seems interesting. Seriously.

Also, if you can't write a sentence correctly at least most of the time, we're not going to talk for very long.

I'm really not looking for anyone for anything more than friendship who is more than a year or two younger than me. This is especially true of guys. Sorry.
