I am quiet, thoughtful, and different.

My Self-Summary

I'm pretty well-off physically. I guess I inherited good genes. Despite my years of neglect, I have retained a decent amount of strength and speed and haven't gotten fat. I'm not skinny, but I never could be. My ancestors were big muscle-bound Vikings. :D

I'm a bit more proud of myself mentally. I tend to be proficient at nearly any task and have a pretty good head for both memory and thinking. I enjoy philosophical questions and thinking about how stuff works at a basic level. I tend to be a Jack-of-All-Trades but a pretty good one at that.

Personality-wise, I am quite disciplined in most aspects of life. I will avoid any form of alcohol, smoking, or drugs and usually think about the consequences of my actions as they affect others. I'm not a saint, but I think most people seem pretty self-centered. I have a quirky but fun sense of humor. I prefer random, intelligent humor. I like to just have good-natured, random fun.

I tend to spend time online, read, play video games and hang out with friends or family. Since my move to Omaha, I haven't had much occasion to leave the apartment since I don't really know anyone. I have a decent entry-level position at work to advance from and I plan to take some classes.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently working in an office, looking for a good career job, and otherwise just enjoying myself. I play video games, sports (basketball, tennis, football, racquetball, pool), and board games. I also occasionally keep up with some news and love to browse Wikipedia and several webcomics. I read 8-bit Theatre, LICD, Ctrl-Alt-Del, Penny Arcade, XKCD, QC, Overcompensating, VG Cats, and OotS. Bonus points to those who know all of the above. I also try to keep on on the Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and Fullmetal Alchemist manga. I've read Death Note and thought it was all good except the ending. Code Geass was pretty much awesome.

I guess in the meantime, I'm keeping an eye out for a quality girlfriend. You know, the kind you can have a decent conversation with? For those girls who actually read all this stuff, you might keep in mind that I have a bad tendency to not make a move even if I think we would hit it off.

I’m really good at

I'm good at almost any video game. I also like thinking about random things and solving problems. I'm one of those weird people that actually prefers to use his head. I have extreme luck of both sorts. I've even had people ask me if I'm psychic! In all honesty, either through luck or innate talent, I am pretty competent at most things.

The things I'm bad at tend to be related to striking up conversations or talking on telephones. I'm not an extrovert by any means, but I'm much less of an introvert than a few years ago.

The first things people usually notice about me

I wear shorts in the winter, wear Burger King crowns and do other weird stuff. I will sometimes keep a beard. I'm pretty bad when it comes to fashion; I usually just wear shorts and a t-shirt or polo. Also, I am the king of slop in pool, basketball, and even tennis. You have to see it to really understand.

Other than that, I'm pretty quiet and most people may not notice me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like science fiction, fantasy, and alternate realities. Non-fiction is ok too, especially historical works. I hate poetry for some reason. I guess I'll list a few examples, but this hardly covers everything...

Books: Firestarter, Ender's Game, Jurassic Park, Dune, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Movies: V for Vendetta, The Mist, WALL-E, Butterfly Effect, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Music: anything that sounds different. I like most songs that don't sound like 3 other songs (i.e. country). Parody songs are cool. Weird Al, Tally Hall, My Chemical Romance, Cake, Final Fantasy music.
Food: I prefer simple foods. Ice cream, cheese pizza, PBJ, steak, fruit. I dislike onions, peppers, tomatoes, spicy/hot stuff and mustard.

The six things I could never do without

I'll do my 'Six Important Things' a little differently than most of what I've seen or done. Obviously, I need the basic physical requirements to live and prefer to have some contact with my family like most 'normal' folks.

1. Thinking / Dreaming
2. Video Games - RPG, RTS, FPS, fighting. I'll play nearly anything.
3. Books - Mainly fiction, but I also like informative or philosophical books.
4. A soft bed / chair - Sometimes I just need to get cozy.
5. A computer with Internet access - I stay away from TV.
6. Humor - I appear serious in person but I crave fun.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I think about the future, alternate realities, weird stuff and everything else. I also have some ideas that I may turn into a website someday. Other things I think about, being more practical, include my current job situation and getting money to pay for expenses.

I never know what will pop into my head at any given moment. That can be a good or bad thing.

On a typical Friday night I am

Friday nights are not that special to me. I will either be working, playing, hanging out with friends, or even sleeping (heaven forbid)!

I used to just hang out by myself, but college was pretty sweet in the dorms and I got used to hanging out with people and playing games.

Things I'd like to do over the weekend include bowling, going to the movies, playing cards (especially Magic: the Gathering), video games (of course), visiting my family and friends near Lincoln, playing some big sports game (like football or soccer), and SLEEPING. I do like the sleeping. I'm open to suggestions for you people who are nearby.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

While more prone to living according to logic rather than emotion, I do have a sensitive side. I tend to avoid showing it to people. I guess I'm just looking for an atmosphere / people where I can be whomever I am. I'll give you a bonus private thing for free:

I once lost nearly all my platelets. In case you don't know what that means, I couldn't clot my blood. The worst part was that, despite never bleeding at all in the early stages of it, they made me bleed a lot in the hospital. Some of the nurses weren't aware they could kill me by not stopping the bleeding from a simple blood draw.

You should message me if

You are welcome to talk to me if you aren't some solicitor and actually intend to have a conversation with some meaning. This generally means giving me something to comment on or a question to answer.

Disclaimer: I can be pretty reserved with new people. I usually won't be the one to start a conversation.

Conversation topics I like include video games, general philosophy or cynicism. And Randomness! Cats are cool too. I still enjoy talking about other stuff, of course, so don't feel restricted to those.
