I'm a teacher. I'd be happy to find a woman who reads books, believes in herself, and has ideals. A big vocabulary is a serious turn-on.

My idea of a good time is making music with friends, eating adventurously, and being in green spaces. My vacations tend to involve the mountains, but I'm happy working in Brooklyn - I have THE BEST JOB a teacher can get! : )

What I’m doing with my life

I read history, teach science, play rock, and LOVE funny songs. Last year I took off forty pounds - this year I'm making progress as far as just relaxing!

I’m really good at

Music. I have a good touch, and a smooth voice. I'm good at honesty, too. A friend gave me a kind compliment: "You can say no, and not be mean about it."

I'm funny - but in an erudite way, not a "pull-my-finger" way.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Ursula K. Leguin/Chiam Potok - and lately, Terry Pratchett.

Movies? "Contact", "What the Bleep Do We Know," and "Yellow Submarine."

Food? I try to eat WHOLE foods (unprocessed). But I eat omnivorously, adventurously, joyfully! I have dark chocolate every day.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Hunter-gatherer societies. Seriously, I think about how that's the way we evolved to live. I try to make sure technology works for me, not the other way 'round.

My escape fantasies are about farming, but my real-world plans for vacation are more likely to include France, if you'll join me.

On a typical Friday night I am

recuperating - teaching is hard work! On a weekend, I often make music with friends, but would be happy to get together with the woman I adore, and whisper poetic nothings to her while we explore the world, one block at a time.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I see no inherent morality in making the bed.

You should message me if

you're a grown-up. That means you know that a man cannot read your mind. Men DO want to make you happy (we're a lot like dogs - for a rub between the ears and a kind word, we'll follow you to the ends of the earth!) But of course NO ONE can make YOU happy except yourself.

BAD NEWS: I have a TERRIFIC new job, but it's taking a LOT of my energy. School nights will be less-than-great for me to come see you, until June (the second year in a new school is FAR easier than the first.)
