My definition of "dating" is a bit fuzzy. Going out to eat, or a walk in the park, grab a drink, or to a movie doesn't necessarily constitute a date. Most of my friends are female, and we don't date, but we do things that look like dates to other people. They have boyfriends or husbands or we just don't have that kind of relationship. I have had some friendships that included "with benefits" but that just blurs the lines of "dating" as the benefits weren't exclusive, nor did they necessarily tie into any "dates."
I would like to have someone I call a girlfriend. I like monogamous relationships. I just don't see the need to be all or nothing. If I meet someone and we make an agreement to be exclusive, then those are the rules I will live by. I believe in setting ground rules to avoid confusion or hurt feelings. I tend to err on the side of caution.
