My self-summary
Once I get going, I write a lot. So fair warning, I suppose. The tl;dr is that I'm an enthusiastic writer, but shy and slightly awkward in person. I put a high emphasis on manners, but I do have a sense of humor. I'm often creative-slash-artistic and I'm generally curious about how the world works.

To elaborate, here's some kind of long list:
-I'm not an adventurous person, but I'm not immune to persuasion.
-I use long words often when typing. Not so much when speaking.
- - But I still say words like "indubitably" because they're fun to pronounce.
-Unless they beat me to it, I always hold a door open for another person.
-Never have I received a ticket while driving, nor have I so much as grazed a post at the gas station.
-I don't usually care for alcohol. Not as a health or moral issue, I just rarely have a taste for it.
-I frequently whistle or hum to myself, but I never sing.
- - At least not within earshot of others.
-I'm part-Japanese and modestly interested in the culture.
-I never hang up the phone first.
-My memory for practical or non-trivial things is terrible, but I compensate with preparation.
-I have a lot of experience with Origami, but I've only ever designed one model myself.
-I always use proper punctuation and capitalization in online chat.
-Cold weather puts me in a good mood. Hot weather makes me crabby.
-My highest goal is to someday be a voice actor.
- - So even though I often look tired, I can sound however I want.
-I don't care for competition shows like Dancing with the Stars or American Idol, and I despise "reality" TV.
-I don't consider myself a "gamer", but I do sometimes play a MMO or two.
-I have four novels that I've been hacking at for many years, and I'm many more years away from completing even one.
-I compose now and then, but I never learned how to read sheet music.
-I often write theme music for my unfinished novels.
-I don't understand how people can get by without the drive to be creative.
- - I also know how narrow-minded that sounds.

The first things people usually notice about me
-My good manners.
-My apparent patience.
-My sense of humor, which comes in various flavors: dry, sarcastic, extra-cheesy, or plain personable.
-My "accent", especially when I'm tired. I don't know what it is or where it comes from, but it's a fun conversation piece.

The six things I could never do without
-Technology: esp. my computer, my iPhone, iTunes, and the Internet
-Family: my family is close, supportive, and a huge part of my life.
-Civilization: I would never survive in the wild, nor would I last longer than five minutes when the zombie/robot/ape uprising begins. I make no apologies for this.
-The drive to be creative: as frustrating as frequent writer's block can be, the satisfaction in just being an immobile sponge would be a lot worse.
-People: as shy and awkward as I am, it's comforting just to have others around. A kind of "social ambience", you could say.
-Sixth thing... I dunno. Lists, I guess.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How often are you thinking of something? Would it be fair to say you have thoughts all day long? All day, every day? I know I do. Whether I'm pondering the mysteries of the universe or just trying to drown out whatever earworm I'm humming, there's always something happening.

And assuming that even a mere fraction of the human population also performs this constant idea-ing... well, the sheer amount of consciousness floating around is just mind-boggling. I can't even imagine.

So then I think: Where am I going for lunch tomorrow?

And then I remember: Hey, I still haven't finished a book yet. Get back to work!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Willing to admit? I wrote my own language for a couple of books that I never finished. It's based on a code I used as a kid, it's heavily influenced by Japanese grammar, and it's not the nerdiest thing you've ever heard of. Really. Jirai-jirai liyo....

It's actually where my username comes from, but the full explanation for that is a little longer and a lot nerdier.

-If you feel like there's some vital part of life you don't fully understand.
