I am fun, thoughtful, and a smartypants.

My Self-Summary

I'm a sucker for anything that makes me laugh.

I have an awesome family and I actually enjoy spending time with them. But they live far away. I also think I have some of the best and coolest friends ever. And they live close.

I love my work. I'm chasing my dream job and it scares the hell outta me but thrills me at the same time. If it doesn't work out, I guess I'll just pursue my lifetime ambition as one of the following: media baroness, celebrity chef (but a real chef, not one of those Food Network knockoffs), goat farmer, mafia boss, or underwater photographer.

Recent additions to my Ipod: Sonic Youth discography, Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ghostland Observatory, TV on the Radio.

Things I don't like: jerks, climate change deniers, douchebags, wearing socks, people who take themselves too seriously, arrogance, being told I own too many pairs of shoes.

Things I like: Laughing--a lot--but not in a mad scientist/crazy cat lady kind of way--more in the 'I get a real kick out of finding the hilarity in everyday life' sort of vein. Nice guys. Big vocabularies. New adventures. Tooling around on my bicycle. Being naughty. Funny guys who are good at grammar and math. Sarcasm. Staying active. Believing in things that matter. Travelling as much as I possibly can--even if it's just a road trip to the suburbs. Being excited. Being silly.

What I’m doing with my life

Chuckling. A lot.
Trying not to stay still.

I’m really good at

Dodgeball.
Procrastinating.
Organizing stuff.
Being a goof.
Talking to strangers.
Trying new things.
Hilarious, unintentional, and often ill-timed malapropism.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile. My dimples. My eyes. My stems.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like my books to be fiction or about food, my movies to be smart or funny (or both), my music to be awesome (and preferably live) and my food to be delicious.

Music: the Pixies, Johnny Cash, MIA, Wilco, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beastie Boys, MGMT, Arcade Fire, the White Stripes, TV on the Radio, Mates of State, the Futureheads. Am highly addicted to concerts and music festivals.

Books: the Life of Pi, Omnivore's Dilemma, Midnight's Children, A Fine Balance, Maus, 100 Years of Solitude, Persepolis, The Brother's K, anything Kurt Vonnegut, What is the What.

Movies: Lost in Translation, The Life Aquatic, the Godfather 1 and 2, the Snowman, The Darjeeling Limited.

Food: blueberries, cupcakes, popcorn, and tomatoes. I come from a family of chefs, both professional and home, so I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to good food. I love to think about it, talk about it, grow my own, and explore new cuisines.

I suppose my lists could go on and on. I tend not to pigeon-hole with favourites and can't even commit to picking a favourite colour. Although when challenged, I will come up with my desert island top fives.

The six things I could never do without

1. Fun
2. Good food and wine
3. The internet
4. Travel
5. My scooter
6. My extensive collection of stilettos, sneakers, and hiking boots.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Dodgeball strategy.
How to procure my next plane ticket.
Ingredients.

On a typical Friday night I am

general ne'er do wellin'. Drinks with friends. Trying to find something new and exciting to do in Vancouver.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue.
I sometimes snort a little when I laugh really hard.

You should message me if

You like to laugh at yourself as well as others.
You're just plain awesome.
